Plenty of puddles last night, but they could all be ridden around. Some workmen with diggers were doing what I can only consider to be 'dumbing down' of the technical downhill section at the end of the golf course singletrack. Anyone got any information as to what is going on here ?

Do you have more information?

They've certainly dumbed those rocky descents down a lot in the last two days. Hopefully they don't take it too far!

Pissing down with rain in manly vale at the moment (wed eve) so think there'll be a few puddles around for the next couple of days.

Hey im all in favour of trail maintenance but it seems like there's a line between fixing and dumbing down. the rocky decent after the single track is now just too easy in my book and was also the least eroded of the whole track. is there an ongoing plan anywhere of what gets fixed up and what gets made easier.

Fire tracks need to be smoothed out for emergency vehicle access (in the event of an emergency).

It's the rock roll downs before the rock slab on the edge of the golf course?

Mate if you get a fire truck down those rock steps you'd better be pretty sure you never want it back!
And yes Gazza it the big roll downs just after the end of the sniggle.

Yep, that's got bugger all to do with fire trucks.
Very disappointing!

Scaremongering!

I spoke with the dudes while they worked on Wednesday.
What they are doing is removing the slippery wooden boards and replacing them with a rock stabilized base.
The rock roll downs have not been touched, nor has the run been 'dumbed down'. If you remember the forums kicked up a stink when similar rock stabilization was placed slightly further up the trail - do you even notice it now?
These are the same people creating what will be an awesome trail around bantry bay. I have been lucky enough to do a walk through of their work and I am impressed.

I also spoke to them on Wednesday. They are putting in A and B lines in that section. The B lines are all on the left which consist of a new section that snakes down to the current track. The A lines are all on the right which consist of the current large rock slide and a new line which will continue straight ahead and then left to join back on to the track. They have fixed up a couple of corners on the sniggle and the work that they have done between Bangaroo St and Manning is great. There is still more to come as they will be carrying on the hole loop of the Dam.

What Sean has said is exactly what we were advised would be taking place when we were briefed by Council. The chutes would not be touched and a "B" line would be added.

To hear it was being "dumbed down" was a surprise.

Those boards were a good idea at the time but are diabolical when damp in the early morning dew. I'll be glad when they're gone.

LOL - Going backwards down to the hydro lab on the wet boards is always an eye opener
