Status:
Red/Closed

I've just been told OMV is closed today. Apparently there are "Closed" signs up all over.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.
Please do not post comments with such information - post a new update with the link above.

Wow, amazing how this stuff proliferates online so quickly. But since I've been "named and shamed" here's what actually happened yesterday for anyone who's interested:

I was there on Monday. After 2 days of sunshine I thought it might be open, so dropped in on my way through Hornsby. When I got there the entrances to the stage 1 trails were clearly marked closed, with small red signs at each entrance, yet unfortunately plenty of people were riding them. I continued down the firetrail and part way up the hill on the north side and noticed the 2 new trail entrances had no signs, so assumed these trails were open. The trail was dry but showed clear signs of damage from being ridden when wet. So I stopped right away and went elsewhere to ride.

Yes, I should have checked the website before going there. But I think a sign on the main map board ( at the trailhead) clearly stating which trails are closed would be helpful. I would NEVER intentionally ride a closed trail, and always obey the signage, but I've ridden at OMV a number of times when some trails were closed and others were open. So the signage on Monday was a bit ambiguous.

Of course signage won't stop everyone, but it will make the status very clear to those who turn up without checking the website.

Maybe we should leave it at that. Foxpuppet has been quite diligent - and diplomatic - in posting on these guys strava rides about the trail being closed and the damage done.

If the signs were up I'm not sure there's really any excuse, but not having visited to see said signs myself, perhaps I shouldnt be relying on hearsay.

Honesty and acknowledge of fault makes for a good redemption.

Haven't seen the sign. Would be good if signs read all single track trails are closed. And atleast another sign at the green loop trail head sign
