Ebay bike stand
Hi everyone, just looking for anyones experience in ebay workshop stands. There are significantly cheaper and look of very similar design to more expensive ones. How wrong can i go?

The problem with cheapies is generally slipping and twisting at the joints and a poor clamp.
used 1, weighed a ton over 10 kilos, not easy to move or pack
I use my stand for bike washing, works a treat and has lasted quite a while now. Heavy , yes, but only move it from the garage to the back yard.
WOuld I buy it again? NO but it is good enough for what I use.
I only use it to clean and quick service the bike and chain.
You really miss a quick clamp and release facility of a better one as you have to hold the bike up whilst you spin the knob to tighten the clamp and the clamps are not the best quality and stiffness so there is some flex in the joints.
So if your dismantling and re-assembling bikes then buy a better one with quick releases but if your just cleaning your bikes and lubing the chain then it isnt that bad.
Agreed about the quick clamp but for the money they're great.
I have one and the main problem I had is having to put something under the front wheel to hold the bike level. A screw through the clamp into the tube sorts that though.
Pretty sure that is the same stand as the Aldi stand. Ive seen the same stand in bike shops for a LOT more.
I have one and it works fine. Its stable and as long as you check the connections the joints are strong enough.
The clamp could be better compared to other stands, you get what you pay for, but the stand as a whole works fine for me.
I've got one of these and it seems to work ok. Depends what you need it for.

I've got the Aldi one too and it is fine. Most often I don't bother clamping to the seatpost and just sit the top bar in the cradle (alum frame). I just came across this option too, price looks Ok and has a quick release clamp http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/Bikes-and-Acc...
Yeah i just want it to do basic maintenance like brake bleed, changing chains and cassettes, that sorta stuff..
That anaconda one looks pretty good actually.. At least with anaconda if its s**t i can take it back..
My Torpedo7 one is the same as that CyclingDeal one, minus the tool tray. I've had it several years (5?) and it has served well (at least 3 Mont 24s), and I expect many more years service from it.
Much better than that cruddy $50 thing, which looks like it will topple if you sneeze on it.
The problem with the cyclingdeal/torpedo 7 one is that for another $20.00 you can get the part tools stand.
I've got the Aldi one, it's not great but is great value at $35. The clamp can rotate if you don't clamp it at the centre of gravity which pretty much precludes grabbing the seat-post. I've mounted it to the garage wall and dumped the legs (it has all the fittings for that) which makes a much neater setup and is more stable etc
Agree with the above comments. ALDI stand is good enough to wash the bike and do some finetunes...
