What a difference a week makes!

Lots of changes in the last week or two since I last did a normal lap.

All the dutch ladders are now gone except one last piece on the long climb section. All replaced by rock armouring.

They're building B lines around the two step ups - the one with the metal post they are building a line to the right of it next to the tree. And the step at the top of the old dutch ladder section, they have cut a deviation through the bush on the right to avoid it. Both not rideable yet.

The descent to the creek looks like they have scraped a lot of the loose sand off and built a couple of new water bars. Still a little bit squirrelly in places but 90% of it now is just FAST!

On the other side, vomit hill is now a sandpit and almost impassable in places. I struggled up and got bogged halfway, then struggled up the next half. Last week it was like a road so I'm not sure what happened there. It looks like they dumped a truckload of sand on it in the last week. After that its just flat as a road all the way to the 19th hole....

Had a chat to the TrailScapes guys out working and they said Bantry Bay is VERY close now!

The storm yesterday arvo have bedded down the firetrail a little bit, although it's looking more like highway at the moment, I can't see what the whole fuss was about, it's a clean canvas and just let mother nature carve it up again.

Love the work done on the 2nd half of the golf course wiggle. Rock armouring have been done very nicely replacing the slippery wood and it makes the lead up to the top step ups much better! The B line on the first step up is also open now, didn't notice the B line on the top step ups.

Update from this morning 6:30am: Ladder replacements and new A and B lines done. Council workers and all their gear is now off the track. Looks like they are finished their "upgrade".

Rain DID firm the sandy bits up a bit but you better keep that rear brake ready.

I did a couple of laps today, and the new work past the golf course and up to the top step-ups is great and very much appreciated.
However, I have to say that all the way down the descent to the creek, and then all the way to the descent to the 19th hole is simply depressing. All the lovely, testing, contoured rocks, uphill and down, are completely gone and it's just a couple of km's of sand highway. I really hope that it's temporary and some heavy rain does reveal some of the previous features, but I could see that lots of the rock has been scraped away which doesn't bode well.
