Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Still Green, little bit more rain to pack it down some, but just be careful of lots of sticks/branches etc. on the Cootamundra first section as they have been in clearing the bush like they did with the firetrail to create a bigger firebreak.

Do you have more information?

The short singletrack parallel to Cootamundra Drive/Southern cross way is no more (the bit after the short pinch rocky climb) right up that small drop off, the trees have been cleared up and the track widened Sad

It always was a fire trail, unfortunately.

I complained about it a couple of years ago to the ranger when they first put it in and he advised they had little choice as it was required for emergency vehicle access.

I'm not sure if it's still accessible but there is a rock platform to the right of that section, the entrance to which was about 20m in from gate. Needs a few bridges to join up and make a trail but might be worth a look if you're bored with fire trail. Eye-wink

And a bit of traffic might discourage the kids who go hide in there to smoke their bongs and screw with their brain chemistry Evil

Wow. It's now wide enough to fit 2 fire trucks and a 4WD side by side. Pretty extreme.

They've cleared a couple of metres up the embankment and taken out a couple of full-grown trees with trunks a half metre in diameter. Much wider than the original works a few years ago, and circumventing the anti-erosion works built at that time. It's a real ugly job, much worse than I was expecting.

Apart from a narrow riding line, the trail is covered in sticks, crap and bits of shredded tree.

Unfortunately the couldn't find the side trail to the rock platform. Seems to have grown over.

On this occasion I thought a response to the comment about the clearing was more relevant.
