More signs needed on Gahnia and Serrata

I think there needs to be a few more signs put up on these tracks , Gahnia needs one at the exit telling people that is oneway and also a MTB track and the Serrata needs the same at the intersection of the walking track halve way down.
Saw some old digger walking up the track the other day and turned around and there is absolutely no signs saying not to walk it. He may have escaped the retirement village .

had a head on with a guy coming the wrong way down it on the last long steep metal ramp.He was on a new blue reign with full pads and lycra!!He turned around and went back up but there is no sign at the exit stating its not two way.As to walkers runners, ive come across trail runners 3 times on there now but from memory it states its a shared trail on the sign at the entrance.Someone is gonna clean up a runner eventually though on the steep sections, wont be good for either party...

Have talked with NPWS and they will be getting onto this shortly.

Gahnia especially, all signage is temporary do they could open before Christmas.

the runners/walkers arent meant to be on this trail?Just want to clarify so if i politely tell them this im in the clear.

Not intended to be shared use as part of risk management.

I'd suggest they at least show some courtesy and give way to riders by stepping off the track and then not moving until the rider has passed.

We need to however ride with the expectation of coming across people on the track.

Problem is, at the exit of Gahnia there's one of the new shared use signs placed as though it's a trail entrance. No surprise that people are heading down there. The sign should have been put up to face riders as they exit.

We bumped into the lady ranger at the start of the firetrail leading to Ghania on Saturday morning. Had a quick chat with her and she said that she'd put a sign up at the end indicating it was one way only. Forgot to check though when I got there!

I also asked her about walkers and she said legally they are not allowed to ban them but they strongly discourage them as it is a designated mtn bike track.

how do they legally ban any other user group from any other trail? Just asking.

I think they could possibly ban Horse Riders & motorcyclists?

Which is not permitted under their Plan of Management is essentially banned.

Would need to check wording of mountain bike tracks in plan of management to see what is permitted.

It may be more of a political and practical thing regarding walkers on the mountain bike track than an inability to ban them. Best to play nice. Picking a fight on this is something where we have far more to lose. We are tolerated on plenty of other tracks.

Came across a rider on Sunday morning about to enter the track at the exit. He actually asked me if the trail was directional as he'd not been there before. Definitely a sign needed at the exit stating the direction.

I also bumped into a NPWS ranger who was hanging around the start of Gahnia. I told him thanks, these are some great trails and he said he's glad we like them, hopefully now the illegal trails won't be ridden.

There is now a sign up at the exit, same tree as the trail exit sign, but on the other side facing ppl coming in from the wrong direction.

I think it needs to be a bit further up, right at the junction between the fire road and the end of the track. Where you can see it before actually starting off in the wrong direction.
