I know Gahnia will be dry but it's not really my thing (nothing against the trail). Anyone ridden the Dam or Possums in the last day or so - is it dry? Any other recommendations for dry trails this weekend around the beaches?
Thanks,

Did three laps of Possums last night and the only place it's wet now has a big bunch of branches layed over it. Nice new little jump been added too...I suspect to encourage people to ride it in the "right" direction

main circuit Dam is OK rode it last night. Puddles in the usual places. down at the creek. behind MV Public School.

Contemplating manly dam, Possum, cascades, St Ives showground single track, Muppet Show & back should be a great ride tomorrow.

Serratta should be dry as well.

Can I once again ask the stupid question how to find Possums?

If you have a hole anywhere in the eaves around your house, they'll find you. Eye-wink

Rode it Wed pm at an, erm, somewhat relaxed pace, being rather tired. That little gap jump startled me a bit, but I managed to get the front wheel out just far enough to avoid dropping it in. Note to self: ride faster next time. Sticking out tongue

I like the idea, though. Good thinking Mr Dreggs. More please. Smiling

Not sure if my sarcasm meter is working or not. However in case you are asking and you don't know
here it is.

otherwise as you were

But if its just a play on spelling I'll crawl back behind my rock along Gahnia

Great - thanks all.
I think I'll do a similar but slightly shorter ride Stan but most likely Sunday morning.
Cheers.

I hear them all the time but I never find them. Now I know I've always been very close to them so thanks everyone for showing me where they hide.

We are the Possums of Possum. Perhaps I will go & have a rest in one of those eves at hawkeyes place. Eventually invest in a rock on Serrata as well to hide behind for a weekender.

that's if I don't have the luxury of the doghouse at my place

There was a rather large amount of rain on the eastern suburbs side of things this evening, was it isolated?

Do you reckon the dam and serrata/ghania be fine?
I plan on showing someone the new trails tomorrow!

Check out the weather page. This graphs what has been on the radar over the trail

I think it should be fine. We did have rain on the beaches but not really much yesterday and as far as I can tell it stayed dry over night. We had a bit of wind and another fairly warm night as well. So if it doesnt rain this morning you should be fine. Serrata & Gahnia dont hold much water anyway and are on the quick side of drying out.

StanTheMan's picture

It will probably be fine tomorrow.
In hindsight. I would take the roady out instead If I had to make a choice again for this morning.
Even cascades had water everywhere.
Muppet show was quite good, but the far end of the St Ives singletrack as always big massive puddles

C3PO's picture

How was the Dam Stan the Man?
We had quite heavy rain early last night, albeit not for very long. I'm guessing it's pretty wet?

MarcT's picture

Serrata was pretty wet this morning but I crashed hard on the first 100m of it and destroyed my valve on the front wheel. Turned around, headed home.

StanTheMan's picture

lots of puddles along the golf course wiggle butI recon provided it doesnt rain tonight its most likeyley OK.
My Driveline took a beating today. A fair amount of Chainsuck as well. New Inner & outer cables required after 3 rides

Thanks Stan. Hope all ok at your end MarcT.
Cheers,

Just a couple of bruises, nothing major, thanks for asking. Had to get a new valve core which wasnt available so I had to buy a set of two new valves just to get one valve core (riding tubeless). $30 crash basically, oh well, shit happens.

It's been dry up north for a few days we didn't get the rain . If we did it's all dried up now in God's country

hey all MD (I'm from up Hornsby way) is new to me and I hear lots of talk about the new tracks on the other side of wakehurst parkway. In your opinions what is the best way to link up MD, possums, ghania and serrata trails to if possible one nice smooth circuit ?

thanks

Try this.

With regards to a starting point, unless you are local to somewhere on the trail and/or very fit I'd Start / Finish at Grattan Crescent / Gahnia.

Also this loop is the standard dam loop. You could always ride Possums (end of Bantry Bay Firetrail) up to the Wakehurst Parkway pedestrian bridge and do the extended loop.

So a loop could go something like:

Gahnia
Bantry Bay Firetrail
Possums
Kevin Costner
Pipeline Feeder
Pipeline CLimb
Some Manly Dam variation
Exit after Manly Dam Trig Track
Bantry Bay Firetrail
Up Bantry Bay Road / Across Oval
Austrian Enduro
Serrata
Daisy Duke

Should be a 25K loop, very physical and technical.

Have fun

thanks Daniel, for the time and effort to post this layout.

Not a problem GRFISH. The trails are literally in my backyard so spend a fair bit of time out there. Still tying to find the "perfect" loop which until my fitness kicks in I think will start with Daisy Duke then Gahnia... but not yet sure what after that....

Will just have to ride more to find out Eye-wink
