Re: This ride meeting:
Dirtworks Classic 2008

Ok so hows this for a technology stuff up....Rob got into 50Km before me but the times suggest I beat him by 4 mins???

I also thought the timing was about 10 mins out based on speedo and clock.

My ride time was 6:45 and I figured based on start finish 7:09. That being the case I beat my previous 100Km time by 30 odd minutes which was pleasing although I would love to have cracked 7 hours.

Tien was way to fast up the hills and while I seemed to catch him at the drink stops he pulled away over the last 25 or so. I was never going to keep with Rob.

Dont know if the cold I came down with Monday had any impact but I think more frequent training is required to improve further. 1 ride a week just doesnt cut it but felt good throughout just not enough grunt. Interestingly I didnt consume as much fluids as I expected (4L) or eat that much but dont think it impacted. My new secret weapon of Panadol really helped a lot over the last 15Km easing the pain and really allowed me to push home. From the home turn down Jacks track was all systems go. That was just awesome. Thanks to the marshal at the road junction stopping the oncoming traffic to let me and another guy out on to the road, we would have got minced if the car hadnt have stopped. We were flying and had no intention of stopping, even though I thought I heard the car. Adrenalin, gotta love it.

No close calls, tyres to darn hard in the first 50 nearly killed me, minor technical problems from new drive train but worked around that.

Being the final NOBMOB 100K finisher was a bit depressing but hey, just over 7 hours sets a pretty good lower limit Smiling

Congrats to all and thanks for a great weekend. Thanks Christine for organising the lovely accom and food.
