Hope he's better than the appearance of the air-ambulance suggested

Thats not good.

They were hovering around for ages then when they did land were there for a long time. Did they drop someone in perhaps?

Odd that they chose Forestville oval for Gahnia and not Arrarat.

Hope whoever it was is on the mend.

ohhhh no. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.
hope they are on the mend quickly

Isn't that the second time there's been an airlift out? Is Gahnia (and Serrata for that matter) too technical?

They will always drop a Dr. in for these.

I assume an hellicopter extraction would be covered by medicare?

My wife had to be extracted out of a house with very steep stairs & Driveway. Ambulance & 2 firbrigade were present. Just had to pay for the standard Ambulance fees.

But when it has to be done, it as to be done. right?

No its not, people will always fall of their bikes no matter what. Crashing is part of mountain biking if you take it seriously. That said, people have to make sure to stay within their skill levels and take it slow if their are not. Gahnia has nothing in it thats really hard, its a blue track, but you can of course hurt yourself just like everywhere else.
Hope whoever it was is ok.

Just my five cents worth and because I'm a complete wuss of a descender, but I found the new tracks to be far too tech.
If not black, its at least a double blue.

Again, just a wuss here.

Have not gone back since first run and have had some intermediate mates go over ass over tit on their first run.

While this is not the place to discuss this as someone may got hurt (do we know anything about this btw as I couldnt find anything on the media which makes me hope it wasnt serious), I can assure you that both tracks are not even close to being black. Everything can be rolled, the steep parts are very short and you can ride the whole tracks at a very low speed if you like to do so. I cant really see anything black on there. If you find them challenging, well yes thats another story, but isnt that what mountain biking is about? Improving your set of skills by riding more challenging tracks? I dont want to upset anyone, but an intermediate rider wouldnt have any issues whatsoever riding these tracks. Thats not a bad thing though for people who are having issues riding it, its just another reason to work on your skills.

Definitely not a black trail.

There is plenty of unofficial black and double black in northern Sydney and BB is a long way from this.

Intermediate can also have some black features while retaining a blue overall rating.

There really isnt anything to go over the bars on unless you grab the front brake or try to roll everything on a bike with a steeper head angle. Pushing out or popping the front wheel out is an intermediate skill.

Totally agree Simon!

Both descents while not being easy are far from black.

People need to start taking responsibility for there own actions and stop saying the track is too hard. If you are finding it hard then get some lessons and practise the fundamentals so you can progress and get better!

People have also been airlifted out of the Dam plenty of times, so saying Gahnia/Serrata is too hard because someone was injured and airlifted out is irrelevant.

I thought the grading reference was to the colour of the bruises that I could expect to emerge with at the end of the run??

In that case, I'd call it blue with a slight chance of purple?

Ride it all or walk some of it, like it or don't, blue is what it is and if you think its too technical then your not at the riding ability level required for this track.

For me; some parts are at the technical limit that makes me feel challenged, I have a good chance of getting hurt there, but that's mountain biking.

@BT is spot on. My partner was airlifted out of perimeter...
