This guy sounds like he might have been a mountain biker, judging by the reference to protective gear

The first sounds extremely serious. Hope he makes it. Sad

There's a bigger question here. Helmets and carrying ID are all very well but they're a bandaid solution when the harm is already done.

The question we should be putting to our politicians is why are cyclist injuries and deaths going up when all other road trauma is going down? And this with cyclist numbers dropping, too.

We have a Roads Minister who is actively anti-cycling. Enough is enough.

I agree with the facts, cyclists need a higher level of legislated protection and the public needs to be better educated/encouraged to share the roads, provide safer cycling transport environment and infrastructure.

But we really have no idea what happened in this case.

I hope they are OK.
