Killingworth trail condition report
I spent some time today walking the Killi trails with the chainsaw clearing fallen trees and re opening the trails. I managed to walk almost all of the KILLIKAZE loop and have cleared nearly all of the trails on the lower side of the carpark. Whilst most of the trails are now free of blockages, they are not in very good condition. There has been a lot of water erosion and it is very wet underfoot. Some of the creek crossings are still covered in 3 feet of water and have been severely damaged. Hopefully the trail fairies will be able to perform some of their magic when the water dries up, and return the trails to their former glory.

Cheers mate, we went out there yesterday and found a lot of the trees had already been cut.
It’s always disheartening when any storm comes through the place . It certainly takes more time to dry than Awaba or Glenrock due to the location and the trail design, but we will get back out there and fix it up.
We want to get the Killikaze loop back to what it was, then look at the northern tracks again (Rainforest and Suckers) which look like a bomb has hit them. Rainforest is in an appalling state. 18 months ago that was a track that was all fixed up and perfect, but the amount of water that has run down there is ridiculous and there are holes everywhere.It almost seems like a lost cause.

My pleasure. I am a Killi local so have a vested interest in the trails. If you need more chainsaw work done I would be happy to help. The only trouble is that I have been riding the trails for many years, and know all of them I reckon, but I don't have a clue what the names of any of them are. It was very sad to see the state of the trails. Erosion everywhere, deep sand everywhere, creek crossings impassable/destroyed. Such great trails, but like you said, after serious rain/storms it does not cope well. Makes the trails more special when they are rideable I guess. PS: thanks for your efforts keeping the trails maintained
We started up the facebook page "Killingworth Mtb Trails" a couple of years ago. There are trail maps on that page. The names we made up for most of them. A couple of years ago HMBA were putting feelers out and i had this map, tried to get some official trail names out of them but nothing came of it.

Thanks for the map. I know all of those tracks to look at and now I can put a name to them.
