Transporting 6 mountain bikes

I'm organizing a trip with 5 others, from Sydney to Canberra for a few days of mountain biking.

The rough plan is to hire an 8 seater and travel together, but the challenge is how do we carry the six bikes. On a previous trip in NZ, we were able to hire a trailer that had bike racks, but I haven't been able to find something similar in Sydney. I can beg/borrow/steal 6 Thule bike racks, but would still need to find a trailer with Thule racks to fit them to.

Another suggestion is to hire a furniture removal trailer from Kennards, but I'm not sure that we will get all of our bikes and luggage into it.

Has anyone faced a similar challenge and come up with a solution?

Thanks

Ivan

Easiest way is with a trailer with a high bar on the tail gate. Bit of old carpet/dog blanket/ pool noodles to protect the frames and just hang the front wheels over the bar. Travel surprisingly well with a rope over the top

Just make sure the rego plate and lights can be seen. Legally you can over hang by 1m but new cover/tie down your load rules can be strict

I've had 8 DH bikes in my ute using the same system

trailermates.com.au rent enclosed trailers with bike racks on the roof from about $25/day. You could fit your bikes on the roof and luggage and stinky bike gear in the trailer.....
