Mr Pikey, well done!

Go the Trance X0

Little-Ditty's picture

Inevitably some didn't even fit on the sheet. Can we get the braniacs to calculate weight adjusted times? Eye-wink

Stuart M's picture

I should point out though that the lightest bike was handicapped by
a) the heaviest rider, but more importantly
b) the weight of the specialised epic that it dragged around for 50km

(oh I'm dead when she sees this)

Buck's picture

I think it's time Tien changed bikes Eye-wink What's with Giant's XC race bike being heavier than the Trance 5" travel trail bike

lorrie's picture

Is my bike that heavy! Flip! time to upgrade me thinks. But with a new wheelset and rear cluster i should be able to drop 1500grams.

http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/f... i wish!

So Lorrie, what was the break this year? Which bolts did you forget to do up Eye-wink

Forgive me if I'm mistaken but your number seemed to be pretty well fixed, I'm sure I saw you coming over the Pyrmont bridge with your number still attached in the middle of the following week! superglued rather than cable tied?

lorrie's picture

PHEW!

My bike behaved this race!!! Just a broken link in the middle of a race but that was easy fixed.

So the mention of Bunnings on the bit of paper above is a furphy?

ar_junkie's picture

Doesn't all Specialized gear come from Bunnings?
Shocked

Buck,

i might try to put a BMX frame on the Giant Anthem, that should improve the weight and it suits my height!

Yeti ASR carbon, Trek Top Fuel 9....drooling....

Tien.

Rob was trying to be funny when he recorded the weights of the bikes... You're new bike must be pretty darn light for what it does!

Rob's picture

I didn't write that... I'm sure the parts came from somewhere far more shonky than Bunnings! Sticking out tongue

Matt's picture

Do you know something I don't? Unless you're talking about the trials bike I'm trying to build... that's very light at the moment, too light in one particular spot, it has a little too much metal taken off the inner of the top of the head tube, so much so that the top race rattles around in the frame... taking that back to the shop this weekend for a rant ;-(.

lozza6's picture

3rd heaviest!! (plus liams)

We should have the scales of truth out on every event Laughing out loud

Sure it starts with weighing your bike once (I'm just going to do it once for interest you tell yourself), the next thing you know you're a full blown weight weenie with spreadsheets of bike part weights, turning up to the LBS with a set of scales when you buy new tyres so you can get the lightest one in stock of a particular make, cutting down foam grips...

Rob's picture

... Alchemist knows too much about this kind of thing! Eye-wink

alchemist's picture

Nah, I've seen it happen to too many friends. I choose parts based more on their shininess rather than their weight (or lack there of)

Flynny's picture

Deraileurs aren't shiny?

alchemist's picture

Not shiny enough, they also require maintenance.

I must confess to weighing a new fork recently, but am now a little scared. 550g (uncut) is possibly too light.

ar_junkie's picture

My new roadie I'm building (well spec-ing at this stage) is looking at weighing in at about 6.6kgs - complete bike.
Cool

Damien's picture

I am looking to try and build a new engine for my bike should be able to remove 12 - 15kgs that should help with the hills.

pikey's picture

My new seat weighs more than that.

A bike that light has no chance of bouncing off a sudden braking vehicle.

Does the frame come with mounting points for extra weights?

Damien's picture

There called pedals arent they.
