Trail Runners Northern Beaches

Long shot but I came along a huge group of trail runners this morning. They were running Serrata which I was a bit surprised about. Not concerned as I do believe they are smart enough to make room for bikers. Many of them were wearing the same kind of top. Colourful with a sun on it I believe. As I'm a trail runner myself, does anyone know who these guys are?

Why do they need to run Serrata? They have Natural Bridge track that has also just had a major renovation. They have all of the other trails in the area; down to the Ammunition Sheds, down to Bantry Bay, that MTB does not have access to. Why do they feel the need to use the couple of purpose built MTB trails in the area.

Selfish muppets as far as I'm concerned!

I'm not really concerned as I'm sure they can move out of the way, especially at the (slow) speed that I ride Serrata but WHY? There are so many tracks that trail runners can use why run on one of the two tracks that are dedicated for mountain biking. I'm more of a trail runner than a mountain biker and would never run Serrata - it's not like it goes anywhere that can't be reached by other tracks.

While it's annoying in the context of us not being allowed to ride other walking tracks, I don't have a lot of issues with them using these tracks.

The sight lines are better and speeds are slower; the risk of collision is much less than on Possums and Kevin Costner.

So long as they don't cut new lines, and yield to the rider (both issues that were experienced on Possums and KC) I think it can actually work in our favour in allowing us to keep the moral high ground.

If we haven't turfed walkers and runners off bike only tracks, it becomes much more reasonable to seek some quid pro quo for support of us having access to some walking tracks.
