Hi all,

I am looking at doing a week away riding some of the great Alpine locations around mid March 2016 after a group trip across to Rotorua appears to have been ditched so I am planning to drive down from Sydney and ride hopefully a few locations along the way I.E Thredbo,Mt Buller maybe even Falls Creek I haven't narrowed it down 100% as I am looking for some input from people who have ridden a few of the Alpine destinations I love to ride all mountain as well as XC. I am also keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in joining me for any or all of the trip as chances are I'll be driving down from Sydney solo but I am reasonably fit and would be looking at between 3-5 hours riding a day with plenty of time for laughs/ photo's along the way.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts
Craig

your to do list Craig.Im down here for summer, the trails are sensational, great mix of xc,all mountain, downhill, pretty much covers every discipline down here. There are some evil climbs about, but the downhill"s you earn are spectacular! We have just cleared and groomed Klingsporn,9 kms of sphincter tightening single track that runs down to the valley floor, its sensational! The delatite is also fantastic,12 kms of scenic trail that crosses the delatite river numerous times on log bridges.Stonefly is a scenic 10 grind to the top and then 3kms of wicked down hill with off camber berms and little kickers.the ride back from there to the village involves climbing lots of switch backs, with another awesome downhill section called Clancys that flows brilliantly for a couple of kms.

Hi Craig,

You may want to consider Bright, plenty of good trails with varying degrees of difficulty and it all starts from right in town. The beer, wine and food is also sensational: http://alpinecyclingclub.com.au/mountain-bike/

Other spots you may find interesting include:

Beechworth MTB park, a good fun ride. There's also some single track that runs along side the rail trail to Everton, it's a good fun ride too: http://beechworthchaingang.geews.com/

Mount Beauty at the base of Falls creek: http://tmb.org.au/

Albury/Wodonga, both cities have their own MTB parks: http://www.alburywodongamtb.org.au/our-trails/

I'd be happy to show you around Canberra if you are passing through on your way down/up.

Cheers

Geoff

Thanks for the input fellas, Buller is sounding like a winner at this stage just sucks that it's a 8.5 hour drive from Sydney but maybe if I break it up with a day or two in Canberra might not be so bad... Stromlo anyone??
