Wiseman's Ferry ride.

Submitted by Morgan on Fri, 27/06/2008 - 17:41.
When:
Sun 27 Jul (08:30) - for approx. 5 hours

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Rain or Shine:
If it's raining, I won't be there.
Meeting Point:

Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.

Show on Google Maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Details:

This time I'll be doing the Western Commission Track, then going up the Great North Road to Mogo Creek Road. Will turn around and come back down the GNR to finish via the 'fun technical stuff' and Shepherd's Gully.

Should work out about 85k's, 90% off road.

NEW: Because we won't be going thru St Albans there is no water once we get going (there was some water at the Buddhist place (about 15k's in) last time, but there are no guarantees). I'm taking 4 litres and enough food for an 85km hitout. And don't forget your toolkit. Oh, and from the last experience bring something warm because it will be chuffing cold when we start out. Please don't skimp by bringing that 1 litre camelbak / envelope - you won't enjoy the ride!

I will bring a water filter for emergencies, but whoever needs it is doing the pumping..

Who's in:
bluray, Morgan, jimjambandit, guyc

Hi Morgan,

Could not make it last time round but keen to come along this time. I have never done a trip beyond 50K's so hope it will be ok. What pace are you planning to ride?

Hope the weather will keep up.

A friend of mine took me on a 105km "ish" ride yesterday that ended up at 127km's.

Should have recovered by October.

Sunday necessities

Submitted by Morgan on Tue, 22/07/2008 - 19:20.

Hi all,

Just a quick but important note that you will need to be self sufficient on Sunday.

Because we won't be going thru St Albans there is no water once we get going (there was some water at the Buddhist place (about 15k's in) last time, but there are no guarantees). I'm taking 4 litres and enough food for an 85km hitout. And don't forget your toolkit. Oh, and from the last experience bring something warm because it will be chuffing cold when we start out. I am keen to do this ride but no transport does anyone have space?
I live in Lindfield if this is not on route happy to meet somewhere that is.

If I can make it...

Submitted by spart on Wed, 23/07/2008 - 15:58.

Hi James,

I can give a lift from Lindfield, only catch is that I will only know for sure on Saturday if I will make it to this ride on Sunday. If I do, no probs to pick you up. Will keep you posted. Let me know where to pick you up exactly.

Bart

I would be editing the post and removing your address. PM's are better for letting people know your address.

If Spart can't make it I can pick you up. I'm in Hornsby Heights so the higher up the Pac Highway you can get the better for me-happy to return you to your door in the pm but not good in the mornings!

Give me a call on Saturday arvo if Spart can't make it.

Riding in the rain...

Submitted by wilkss on Fri, 25/07/2008 - 12:01.

Is anyone still planning to do this ride, even if (as anticipated) it's raining (I note that the description suggests that it's not on if it's raining...).

I was thinking about a Mooney ride, but might change to Wisemans if it's wet, and if anyone was still going(!).

Sunday's forecast

Submitted by Morgan on Fri, 25/07/2008 - 12:29.

is for a late possible shower, so we should be sweet. If the forecast changes and you're not sure call me on Sunday morning after 6am.

My general rule is that I'll go (on this track) unless I'm gunna get wet before my ring hits leather. Mediumcore!

Cammeray lift no longer needed

So see you there and Morgz was the Camelbak envelope comment directed at me? Smiling

Submitted by JohnG on Sat, 26/07/2008 - 10:32.

Can I grab a lift with anyone. I live in North Manly and am willing to get a cab in the morning to someone's place or a convienient meeting point. I did the 100km Dirtworks this year in 6:20.

Hi all,

Submitted by Morgan on Sat, 26/07/2008 - 12:17.

Everyone welcome & I hope everyone can sort out lifts.

If you are definitely coming, please could you sign up for the ride so I know how many to wait for before we head off.

Will be aiming for next ferry after 8.30.

Cheers!

Pulling out

Submitted by JB on Sat, 26/07/2008 - 17:14.

Sorry guys have to pull out. My bike needs to go to the shop, due to myself and the bike having a slight argument with a car last night.
Though the bike is better off than the car as i managed to enter it though the windscreen.
A new helmet too that’s three in 6 months,bollx
