Brisbane Water NP - Staples Lookout
Staples Lookout, Woy Woy Road. At the top of Kariong Hill, turn off the Central Coast Highway (formerly Pacific Highway) onto Woy Woy Road. Continue for about 5km until you come to Staples Lookout carpark on the LEFT. It is well sign posted with an information sign before the carpark: SCENIC LOOKOUT 300m. Park here.
Great ride for Newbies (I'll be bringing a few novice riders from my soccer team) or anyone just wanting to get the legs moving. These are mostly fire-trails and access trails, with very little technical riding but challenging hills without being impossible. Much of the track has been graded recently so it is quite fast in sections. Very similar terrain to The Oaks. If you find it too easy, just ride faster!
Plan to ride Thommo's Loop + Tunnel Track (8km) then take the trail up to Kariong Fire Station and back (10km). I'd like to do another Loop afterwards (8km) but feel free to pass on this if the legs aren't up to it. This ride will take around 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on how energetic we are.
Good ride for Coasties who haven't experienced this trail before as it is an excellent Wet Weather option to keep up your sleeve! Make the most of the Holidays!
