Just wondering if anyone has installed Hollowtech XT Cranks and whether you need the special tool to tighten the cap on the non-drive side crank? Cheers, Mick

you do need a special tool to tighten the cap, it only does up finger tight as well.

Sorry Mick. I should have pointed that out , completely forgot....

The tool is a cheap plastic thing, you might be able to get it from the LBS for a few bucks. If you have any problem, let me know and you can borrow mine.

I'll PM you with my mobile number

Mick, no tech question is ever stupid, unless it was something like 'how many wheels should I attach to my bike' or 'do I really need to put air in my tyres.' That would be stupid. I applaud you for getting into doing things for yourself. Working on one's own bike is a pleasure.
