Its time for our next build Day, the following is an email from the HMBA XC coordinator.

Build Day is Sunday Sept 14 kicking off at 7am.

Hi all track builders!

Since I last updated you all we had a very successful build day 3 and unfortunately had to postpone build day 4 due to bad weather. But it's on again and hopefully this rain we are having will clear by then. Keith Bruce and I walked a fair chunk of the yet to be built tracks on 31st and checked out what's ahead so have a plan for us to open up approx 500m more track on this next day.

Things will kick off an hour earlier (7am) so that we can take advantage of the extra light. We plan to split into 3 crews on the day to do 3 main tasks:

1. Lock in the trails that we have started with a couple of switch backs to finish and some further benching to do so that the trails are sustainable. Open up the link trail back down to the car park so that it can be used as a loop. (Team Leader - Lenny Allen)
2. Build another bridge on the new section down from end of the existing trail. (Team Leader - Dean Koslik)
3. Push ahead with the new trails so that we can open up a further 500m of trail. (Team Leader - Wayne Bower)

What we really need now is people on shovels, mattocks, rakes to cut in some tricky creek crossings, berms and switchbacks. I will be purchasing some McLeod's tools for those that don't have equipment so come and help even if you don't have any gear. Bring along your bike to this one because with a morning of hard work I think that the additional trails will be rideable by the afternoon!!!!

Don't Forget that our club won't be able to race next year if this trail is not open! With it's World Trails design and some awesome country we will have a track that will be the envy of all on the East coast!

Important Note!:

The trails yet to be built are going through some of the most awesome country for mtb riding but will require some serious bridge building and retaining wall construction. If anyone knows someone in the club or a friend / associate with the access to building materials (sleepers, treated pine, scaffolding, concrete, gravel for trails surfaces etc) and or the skills to put this into action please contact one of the team leaders above or a committee member and let us know. The club is willing to finance it but of course cheaper or donated material/services are always better.

Bring along a bike to ride in whats been built following the mornings construction.
