blown holes in the side is part of the in flight entertainment..

I mean.. how much more exciting can it get than dropping 20,000 feet in 30 seconds with oxygen masks dangling from the roof?

Gotta love the press tho. If a QF pilot sneezes mid flight these days it'll be front page news! Laughing out loud

about that incident was that when the canister exploded and blew a hole through the outside skin of the plane and the passenger deck, was that it then hit the "arming" lever of the outer door, knocking it into the unlocked position, before ricocheting around the cabin. That would have been really entertaining, I wonder how many hosties would have got sucked out of that one

That doesn't matter cos simply arming/disarming the door means that when it is opened, the emergency slide is or isn't deployed...

As for the door, its always unlocked... Pulling the opening lever at anytime will essentially open the door. Fortunately though they are designed as inwardly opening doors so during flight the doors are impossible to open due to the pressure differential from the cabin to the outside.

I'm sure you've seen it happen many times with passengers trying to open the door mid-flight. Nothing ever happens.

Give it a go next time if you like Smiling Especially if you wanted to Get friendly with a flight attendant

Sticking out tongue
