Convict trail/Wiseman's to Mangrove Mountain

Hey all,

I probably should have planned this earlier, but am considering doing some rides around the convict trail(possibly from Wisemans) on Sunday and Monday. I'm wondering whether a topo map is advisable, as I've never done it before. Or are things generally pretty clear if I follow instructions from this site?

Cheers.

Mark, I asked the same question earlier this year and I wouldn't suggest anyone ride there without a guide because those trails are a long way from everything and you don't want to get lost!

I've never seen a local topo map so I cannot comment on how precise they are. However I don't think printing out the maps from this site is enough, not detailed enough with all the turn offs.

Keep an eye on the rides calendar, there are rides up there from time to time and I'm keen to do it again one day too Smiling Morgan?? Eye-wink

to do this ride you will need at least {Mangrove 9131-3N} as well as {Kulnura 9131-4S} topo maps wich will cover most of it. Although it doesn't show the start up devine's hill or the western commission track neither do they show the northern end. in which case you will need {murrays run 9131-4n} for the northern end & either {lower portland 9031-2S} or {Gunderman9131-3S} for the southern end.It is not advisable to do this ride alone, not only because of the rugged terrain & trails but also the sheer remoteness of this part of the country.I'm also always keen to ride these trails they are great fun.

Thanks guys.

Guess I'll leave this one for another time, though it does look good so I'd be up for it. I'll keep an eye out.
