LAST ROUND OF OURIMBAH DH RACING!

Submitted by blackbetty on Thu, 09/10/2008 - 20:02.
When:
Sun 26 Oct (08:00)

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Rain or Shine:
I'll be there, no matter what the weather.
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Details:

This is the last round for the year of racing at Ourimbah.

At the moment I have someone to shuttle me. (We may be there practicing on Sat the day before as well if anyone is keen).

This is my first race so Im entering in the recreational sport section. Recreational times range from around 3:57 to 5:10 minutes (compared to elite which range from 3:13-4:09).

Should be lots of fun and if you've ever considered racing its pretty cheap and casual according to the old man who had his first two races a few weeks back.

GET SOME DH UP YA!

Double

should be there

Submitted by Michael B on Tue, 14/10/2008 - 20:19.

I plan to be there, day before hsc maths exam though, so that may be slightly problematic....
Unfortunately it looks like I will just miss out on top place in the u19 pointscore, depending on the results on the day.
I'll be on the blue Ironhorse Yakuza Kumicho, so feel free to say Hi.

Oh well have fun then, its a shame the dates clash. Can I tempt anyone else? Bear in mind you can be as serious or as social as you like.

Great day

Submitted by Michael B on Wed, 29/10/2008 - 22:28.

Good fun day. Did a 3.33 on the full track, and a 2.20 on switchback track, gotta be happy with that. Won u19's by 7 secs overall, and may have just claimed the overall points in my division. Have to get more of you guys up there next season.

Fo sho! Yeah just to fill

Submitted by blackbetty on Wed, 29/10/2008 - 22:33.

Fo sho!

Yeah just to fill everyone in i pulled a 4:21 on the DH with a stack in the bottom rock garden before the log drop and also screwing up the pallet jump as a result of casing the first of the two runin jumps. Im hoping next year to get a clean run in and try and approach the 4 minute mark. Not exactly rattling down but Id be happy with that.

Need to get some more nobmobers racing, its so social so dont be intimidated or anything!

nice one guys! im in next

nice one guys! im in next year for sure..screwing up the pallet? did you crash there? that is an unforgiving jump dude my shoulder still hurts 1 year on!-4:21 is still an awesome time with crashes to boot! i dont know how you guys bust under 4 and even toward 3 that is insane! what is switchback track btw is there a new line there now? or is that just the 2nd half after the pallet?

No i had to cross over to

Submitted by blackbetty on Thu, 30/10/2008 - 19:39.

No i had to cross over to the b line becuase otherwise i wouldnt have had enough to do the pallet drop.

Just after the pallet where you veer off to the left to go along the traverse sort of bit of the DH, if you continue along the firetrail, there is another line of switchback with a pretty cool jump in it but otherwise boring compared to the DH. I can see that it will be developed as time goes by though.

Does anyone know when the
