So I completed my first ever event Smiling

Wasn't quite sure what to expect but knew that I would be able to complete it. Just made sure the bike was in good working order, ate well on the lead up and most importantly for me didn't overdo it doing other exercise leading up to it i.e. no spin classes and leg weights!!

As for the race I started in a group with Bernd, Craig, and Andy Bloot who of course left me standing on the first straight. And I also got passed by an awful lot of girls near the start! "Don't worry" I told myself they're all fit...........and can ride a bit too!!!

But I soon got into a rhythm and felt quite strong. Got to the transition and felt fine though made myself stop and eat, drink and pee! Continued like this on the second stage, blitzed the big hill and even took the hard route at the end (but had to get off half way up!).

Scary moment was blasting through a forest section where the yacht was then seeing a big, sticky, muddy bog section approaching rapidly! Heart in mouth moment but saved it just in time.
Loved all of the creek crossings especially the deep one - hope I get a good photo of that!

So with a time of 3:35 inc. a 12 minute rest at transition I was well pleased with my first race. Hungry for more, got one in less than 2 weeks.

Great to hang out in the NobMob campsite, Pikey thanks for saving me a spot Smiling Although it was bloody freezing as I sat there on Saturday evening in shorts and thongs! Only put the tracksuit top in at the last minute.

See ya all at the Spring Fat Tyre Festival.

Nice one brother, you looked pretty good at the end like you could turn around and do it again Smiling At least you got a time! Next time we'll have to have a more sorted plan so we don't have to rely on mobiles in a no coverage area.
