I've just come back from Huskisson...

I watched this race yesterday afternoon I had never heard of. It was awesome to watch!

It's called Criterium. It's a race for young Elite Triathletes and works on a very fast three-round elimination basis.

One round is
300m swim
8km (8x1km) cycle circuit
2km run

They start with 25 participants, round 2 is 19 and round 3 is 9. Whoever comes 1st out of the last round wins the overall race.

Transition after each round is 6 minutes from the first competitor getting in. So if you are 6 minutes behind the first person, you automatically get eliminated, as you miss transition.

It was really interesting to watch it as it's highly competitive and fast - these guys are super fit.

I did the short course triathlon (750m swim/20km cycle/5km run)yesterday morning and have been eating and sleeping since. Somehow I managed to go from the easiest of these to the hardest.

The long course was this morning (2km swim/82km cycle/20km run). It looked tough, but I wouldn't mind attempting one of these later down the line. For now I'll be sticking to the short course, chipping away at my time.

It was a fun weekend with lots of different events for every level and age. Plenty of mountain bikes around. Saw some amazing road bikes.

Happy riding! Smiling
Anke
