Lake Taupo NZ Cycle Challenge

Anyone interested in forming a team to do the Lake Taupo Cycle challenge in November? The problem I am having is deciding which version to do.

There are eleven different Challenges; the Solo riders' 160 km Challenge(which includes Tandem riders), the 160 km Tarmac Relay (2, 3 or 4 riders), the 174 km Dirt & Tarmac Relay (2, 3, 4 or 5 riders) which include a MTB rider in the team, a 320 km twice round the lake Enduro and a 640 km Maxi Enduro. The Solo Combo is a 176 Km challenge where an individual rider does 20 Km off road then 156 Km around the lake. The Huka Challenge is a 70 Km off road challenge which can also be done as a race - the Huka XL.

Currently Jetstar are offering fares to NZ for $109 each way, so costs should be OK.

I would be looking at doing a couple of days riding the forests around Rotarua, so if you wanted you could do it as a long weekend trip or extend for a week and have a bit of a look around.

This (http://www.cyclechallenge.com/) sounds like a road event. Although it does say, "the event has recently added a range of mountain bike challenges to complement the road events".

Are you interested in both road and MTB??

My preference would be for MTB, but looks like you can do either combined (MTB & Road) event or have a scummer team mate to do the road. Need to find our more details.
