A long ride in preparation for the Southern Highland Fling leaving 2 weeks to recover before the Scott 24 hour. I had in mind a 70 to 80k ride starting at wisemans ferry then up the sandy hill and continuing 35k along Gt Northern Road. Then turn back and go down Shepherds Gully and finish ourselves of on the 8k road back to the ferry.

This is a training ride so minimal stops but the pace will not be race pace. A moderate pace to average about 15kms / hour is ideal.

Bring heaps of food and water and a spare tube and everything else required for big a day out.

When:
Sunday, 31 August, 2008 - 10:00
Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Red Hill Road, NSW @-33.275884,151.377053

One week before the Angry Doctor, so aiming to have a semi-hard (way-hey!) ride, perhaps 4 laps of the main XC loop to get some sniggle skills practice and then perhaps an explore or some unknown (to me) trails, and/or some downhill fun.

The weather looks a little undecided coming up the weekend at the moment but the track does deal with the wet quite well (the grave yard is still off limits I believe making the lap less than 10km's). That said we will need to get a better idea before heading out.

Hemi-roid ride. Pre-social ride lap of Long & Perimeter tracks..

Tuesday, 26 August, 2008 - 18:15
Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest
Meeting Point:

Terry Hills Tavern, eastern carpark, Aumuna Rd, Terrey Hills, NSW 2084

If anyone wants to do a bit more than the social ride but doesn't want to join the 'Roids on their 'antisocial' ride (or can't because they're at the group size limit), I'm doing a non stop medium paced lap of Long/Perimeter tracks before joining up with the social ride, wherever I bump into them on the way back, for a second (more socially paced) lap.

To compliment the social ride here's the more serious one.

You know the drill, we will start from the Tavern and ride Duck Hole + Centre + Perimeter + Long and back to Tavern.

This is a training ride and you should expect to only unclip once the whole ride - at the North end of Centre Track.

We may or may not slow down if/when the social group is met - either way, at least we can get social with them afterwards at the Tavern. Smiling

Proposing 3 laps of approx 10km each. For some 2 might be enough. Training ride at medium pace. Quick stops at end of each lap to refuel. Fairly technical in places so some experience is required. Awesome track with "no boring bits".
Late notice leave pass so sorry for late posting.
