Cascades Training Ride :P

When:
Sunday, 17 August, 2008 - 08:00
Ride Database Entry:
Cascades
Meeting Point:

Meet at the end of Wyatt Ave in Belrose.

-33.725423,+151.206919

Riding the 4 gates 3 times.

Down heath, up quarry, down, up to acron, down, up to davidson, down, up heath. Repeat 2 more times.

This will be a training ride with alot of hills.

So riding will be continuous with minimal breaks.

Bring lots of water and food. At over 50km and 1600m of elevation, it will be a tough ride.

There may be the option to pull out after 2 laps depending on legs. I for one know I may not make the distance....

Tassie Trail

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on best kit to buy for a trip I'm planning to the Tassie Trail. What is best type of bag for carrying kit, a back pack or under seat bag, I'm going light and have looked at the Carraidice SQR Trax, but all the MTB riders appear to use backpacks. Is this because of weight distribution? Any advice on this for a long ride?

Also what is the best head light to use for night rides?

Lastly has anyone done a ride like this (480KM's) and what sort of preperation did they do to get cycle fit for 6-7 days full riding?

Cheers
Hemsy

Oaks + Andos - Up... up... up training ride

Hey guys, since Angry Doctor will be an elevation madness event, I'm thinking in putting some uphill Kays and it seems that Oaks + Andos is a good take (longish and good elevation). What about 14th of June??? Any takers???

Cheers,

Leo.

Craig & I are planning an afternoon blast around Duck Holes, Warimoo, Centre & Terrey Hills (Perimeter + Long) Thursday arvo.

The route is most likely going to be same as this:

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/5067894

We will be aiming for virtually zero stops and total time out of less than 4 hours. Depending on how that goes we might even tag a visit to Duffys Trail on too.

It's a bit of an unconventional schedule (early thursday arvo - yay! Smiling) but anyone looking for a long ride at decent pace is welcome to come along.

Dirtworks training ride - canned

When:
Sunday, 6 April, 2008 - 07:30
Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest

Training ride close to home for Dirtworks designed to test the nutrition, fluids, spares and legs. Plan to do 60+Km at a fair pace.

Meet at Terrey Hills and do the venerable long perimeter track, duck ponds, centre track, then waratah, salvation and towlers bay and back via road to centre track for the run into Terrey Hills.

This course will provide a good mix of terrain with a good hill climbing challenge at towlers bay towards the end of the journey and also be quite a few kay's all up.

Happy to consider other tracks in the mix for the day.

Work to Do!

So today was a training exercise for the Dirtworks 100Km race. Although it was a blast think it showed there's a lot of work to do. And while you can clock up 50Km plus rather easily around Terrey Hills/Cascades/etc. there's nothing much like a trip to GNR/Womerah to remind us what real hills are!

We rode part of the course from around the 70Km stage forward first, then looped about a bit to ride in reverse from 65Km-ish out and back-ish.

Just what it says on the related forum topic. Wanted to get back and look at the last section (this makes up roughly Km 72-92) of the 100Km Dirtworks course but with fresh mind and body. The plan is to meet at the West ferry (turn left, not right bottom of the hill), leave cars there then cross on the ferry riding the 5Km or so to bottom of the climb so as to be warm for that. Then ride the Womerah Range trail, turn round and ride back.

Womerah Range Training Ride

As discussed in the DW thread, reckon it would be a good idea to go get some training in on these hills. Especially the big climbes on the Womerah Range.

Anyone interested? Proposed dates? How about last two weekends in March? How about aiming for March 22/23 Oops... Easter, how about March 15/16?

I would propose to meet at the West (turn left, not right bottom of the hill) ferry and leave cars there, riding the 5Km or so to bottom of the climb so as to be warm for that. Then ride the Womerah Range trail.

Kincumber training ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

I was wondering about getting into some more training rides. We have only a couple of months to get into shape for Dirtworks. What better way than a fun explore around Kincumber? Plenty of hills there. Fun uphills. And mega-fun downhills.

How does next weekend, Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th sound?

There were a few side tracks that led off to who knows where which I wanted to have a look at. E.g. here: http://nobmob.com/node/2423 and here: http://nobmob.com/node/2422
