Below is a preview, click to read the full post.

Just received this from the rangers. Personally I don't mind how the trail currently is. However I do hope they do something that improves the fun rather than what they did on the Allambie section with those inverted water bar things.

To Manly Dam mountain bike users

Notification of upcoming Manly Dam fire trail (mountain bike trail) maintenance work.

Please be advised that from Monday 10 November essential fire trail (mountain bike trail) upgrade works will begin at Manly Dam.

Anyone got a copy of this? Manly Dam got a nice write up and Cupcake got himself in it not once but twice!!! Even down to the point where you can see the words "cupcake" written on his bike.

When is the next trail maintenance day on the dam?

The new section of manly dam is open (in allambie), its fast and flowing with good drainage. As anyone else ridden it yet? what did you think?

Hey all. If there is anyone else that wants to ride with another person or two this Sunday 20 July i am planning a smaller, faster alternative to the social Terry Hills ride. Somewhere around northern Sydney - Cascades, Manly Dam, Dural or Ourimbah maybe. I ride an entry level hardtail but at a decent pace and for a couple hours at least. Post back if you're interested or get my mobile phone no. from my profile. Have a good weekend! P.s. There is a very small chance i will have to cancel if i can't get a rim tuned by Sun, which is another reason i was keeping this informal.

Just got this mail from Nicole. I find it odd to be honest, and reckon the Dam will be a bog, but the official word is...

Could you guys please spread this email around your mtb email contacts advising that Manly Dam will be open for riding this weekend? I have a feeling that they wont get the email sent out before the weekend.

Thanks

Nicole

Just spoke to a ranger at Manly Dam and there's some good news...

Seems like they are in the process of hiring a replacement for Nicole and this replacement will hopefully be starting within a month or so. The rangers definitely want to continue to work with riders on trail maintenance and appreciate all of the interest. With another person on board this should mean that can happen once more.

So give the newbie a chance to settle in and start arrangements. Not sure of course, but maybe this means within a couple of months the maintenance days will return?

In the mean time a bit of common sense is still required when thinking of riding around there. The track is still officially closed and would think it'll be at least another week before it dries out, even longer if the weather stays bad.

It is now official...

Manly Dam mountain bike track has been closed due to rain. We will inform you of opening as conditions improve. Please assist by advising other riders of the closure.

Thanking you
