Zoning Threats to Cromer/Red Hill/Oxford Fall trails and bushland - IMPORTANT

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi All,

Today The NSW Department of Planning issued a draft strategic report for the Oxford Falls/Cromer area.

The draft report suggest zoning almost the entire Red Hill/Oxford Falls area E3 – see their map 7 on the link below.
E3 allows a wide range of development including schools, residential etc. It also allows recreational activities.
The risk of E3 zoning is that without constraint, our bushland can become fully developed.

Red Hill accident?

It's 10.10 and a chopper has just landed on the rocks at Red Hill near the sports academy.

If you know anyone riding up here, you might want to call and check on them.

Red Hill - 8:30am - Saturday

When:
Saturday, 19 May, 2012 - 08:30
Ride Database Entry:
Red Hill
Meeting Point:

On Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill, near the gate/trail head.

-33.744534, 151.255780 (Red Hill Carpark)

Heading to Red Hill for some trail riding this coming Saturday, so please join me if you are keen. I know the place pretty well so I can be your guide if needed. Eye-wink

Rough plan is to ride the "Main Trail" to the rock lookout ("Red Hill View"), then south around the ridge, through "Mr Motorcross" area to the "Rim Ride" sniggle. Then ride some of the other sniggle between the two main trails ("Corner Cut"/"No Name") on the way back to the cars. Something like that anyway.

Cheers,

Anyone lose a bike?

Came across this neglected machine up at Red Hill today. Was looking very sad and well beyond its prime. I thought at first it was one of the Virgin Mobile's "A Fair Ride For All" competition bikes because it had a combination lock on it!! But no.... Sad
The only good thing on this sucker was the bottle holder which was still quite shiney. The rear mech was all bent and twisted up into the spokes and was in turn just...DUMPED!! Very sad.

Red Hill

I'm probably a bit better than an intermediate rider, do you reckon this trail would be possible for me. I can do manly dam well but the page says its pretty technical. Also are there any jumps? could you recommend a place with many jumps and singletrack?
Thanks

Red Hill Downhill/Freeride track location?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know which track at Red Hill is the best for downhill/freeride? Like one with drops, wooden ramps etc?

I've seen photos of them but I don't know where they are exactly and i've only ever been to Red Hill dirt jumps.

Can you please tell me the track name which is listed on nobmob and also let me know which road i should enter the track from.

Cheers
Blake

Oxford Falls and Red Hill Narrabeen Lagoon Catchment Area Forum

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Not sure this is big news, but wanted to share these events just to let everyone know that various parties are still (always) working towards better trail access in the area.

Last night (Aug 16, 2010) a number of riders, members of the local bike industry, conservation group members, a representative from the traditional owners, National Parks Staff and Councillors met at Warringah Council for an open forum. The topic of debate was mainly Narrabeen Lagoon catchment which encompasses the riding areas at Red Hill and Oxford Falls (the latter being mostly unauthorised of course).
