Hello all budding new riders.

Some newer participants to the sport have recently asked for some practice in getting out there and riding some of our local trails. So if you are new to mtb riding and would like to come along, please update your 'star' to show your participation.

Trail selection was something fairly easy but not boring. I figure Duckholes/Centre a good ride and far more interesting than doing the Long Trail.

Relitively new to the sport,i m doing about 50% road and 50% trail at the moment i m going to spend about ($2000)give or take, on a bike,Ive been looking at dual and hardtail,so far looking at Giant xtc comp 1,$2300,Giant Anthem x 1,$2300Specialized Camber 29,$2000,Scott Spark comp 29,$1800.currently riding a tired mongoose tyax so its all gonna be an improvement, ive only had a quick ride on the spark and felt great, sat on the others been in and out of 6 bike shops, like the feel of a dual but totally biked out with overload of info so a few of your ideas would be appreciated.

Bicycle Lifespan

I've been inspired by another Nobmobber on the subject of selling a bike second hand. That thread was about the depreciation of bikes and in particular a very high depreciation of certain bike types.
What I'd like to know is this; When one buys a bike, how long is it kept before moving on to a new one? That is, a direct replacement for that particular bike.
Many folk will have a fleet. Many will ride to work on a road optimised commuter which just keeps on truckin' however will replace their off road fun machine/s often.
