Knockback from Willoughby Council

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just received this email back from Willoughby Council. I am still considering how to respond.

Willoughby City Council – Mowbray Park Reserve Action Plan

Thank you for your comments on the Reserve Action Plan for Mowbray Park.

The request for a mountain bike track through the park has been considered, but is not compatible with the main current uses for this reserve, which are environmental education, recreational walking, and the preservation of native plant and animal habitat.

Appin update for 01 Nov

Area:
Appin
Status:
Green/Open

Track was in good shape this morning but I don't know how much rain they've had this afternoon so that may have changed.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 01 Nov

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Imagine if that amber light went red... long term!

It seems that the behaviour of some riders is jeopardising the relationship between the local club (CCOMTB) and the land manager (Forests NSW).

Please! Park half way up the hill and not at the area at the bottom of the hill.

See Ourimbah forest access issues.

Need to bleed my elixir 5's

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hello as the tittle says im looking for an avid bleeding kit to buy. Ive got elixir 5's and they seem to be quite spongy, loosing power, and almost touch the handle bars under hard breaking. So now is the time for a bleed!

Just got this from Greg. Parking in the bottom area has been a thorn in their side for a while now with some riders just too important to follow the rules.

Notice to all MTB community members who use the trails at Ourimbah State Forest.

Rola roof racks 40% off

Just letting you all know that Repco auto has 40% off all "in stock" Rola roof racks and accessories at the moment. The add reads

"40% off original price. Massive roof racks & accessories sale. Excludes roof pods and trays. Offer only available while stocks last. Limited stock. Store stock only. No rainchecks."

I just got bars and two carriers for $350 instead of $585. Just got to remember to avoid under ground car parks from now on Smiling

Good source for 36t chainring?

Hi All

Yesterday I fitted a spare 36 tooth Surly chainring on a 1 x 9 for a lap around the dam. The ratios were perfect (11-32 rear) but I was getting shocking chain suck because the chainring is too thick for a 9 speed chain (as I've discovered today thanks to the Surly site)

The question: can anyone recommend a good source for a 36t, 4 x 104mm chainring? I need it for the fling in two weeks so can't wait for a OS internet order so may need to (egads!) pay retail

thanks in advance
danny

Quarry Road Track

When:
Sunday, 21 November, 2010 - 07:30

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Quarry Road Track (Berowra Valley)
Meeting Point:

End of Stewart Ave, Hornsby

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

There's basically four sections to this out and back firetrail: Great downhill (Anderson's style) descent that lasts forever, that gets down to a beautiful bridge. Then followed by an equally forever uphill (the erosion on some of the tarseal doesn't help) when we come to a campground. That's before hitting the steepest bit of all, which goes forever. Things start to get a bit easier, as it's only small inclines and declines for 3km before the Quarry Road gate. After turning around, we go off to the left fork at the campground for more small ups and downs.
