Husky 100 - fun day out
My fastest time ever by over an hour, and a complete contrast to the Canberra race that shall not be named.
Riding single speed geared 32:18 was way too spinny and i was managing the cramping situation from about 50 kays. Despite the flatness i was working hard the whole way and really felt it at the end when a train came past me and i couldn't jump on - i just waved it goodbye and kept my own pace through.
Husky Enduro ( 50K)
I dont know about anyone else but i really enjoyed this race (50k) there was a bit of firetrail but there was also no holdups waiting for people either .
For me it was the easiest 50 k so far ....out of three , with a 2:50:11 being an hour and fifteen minutes quicker than Cap Punish a few weeks ago .
The Oaks update for 21 Jun
Rode over the weekend and is in great shape. The recent rains have caused some erosion in places but this has just enhanced the trail making it more fun.

FAST 100km
Well that Is the fastest 100km race I have ever done... While the course may seem flat and easy its not.... You need to pedal the whole damn way except for the parts where you carry your bike through the "puddles"
The course took in the 3 main single track areas of Nowra using fire road to link them together, the fire road used was mostly over grown so it was more like straight-ish singletrack really.
All in all a good day on the bike.
EOFY charity options for riders?
As the end of financial year is almost upon us thought it worth asking...
Say one wanted to make a donation that would benefit riders. Does anyone know of any specific cycling related charities that are worthy causes?
Bicycle NSW Environmental Trust sound promising. Then there are RFS, Careflight, etc. which all do their bit to help riders if they get into a spot of bother.
Sadly IMBA Australia are not yet a registered charity so they are out
Any more ideas?
Sub 6hrs - finally
Yesterday I was way more prepared than DW. I got a lift down with matt_b the day before and got a good nights rest at my friends beach house. A chilly 5am and 6 deg wakeup it didn't take long before all the boys in the house were all fired up for the ride ahead. With the slow cooker all loaded up all that was needed was to set it going, lock up, race and come back all in one piece 7 hours later. Easy right?
Chainguide advice
Would a Da Bomb Recoil chainguide fit on my 08 model Cannondale Chase?
thanks in advance for any help.
Hopeful hubful
Hey Wise Riders,
I'm currently running tubeless XT hubs and rims. I'm wanting to maybe check out some other perhaps hardy, easier to service rear hubs. I believe the Hope pro 2's are light, strong and easy to service? Anyone have any input as to the hubs...what I should consider regarding cassette to match and what rims would be good for the 32 spoke baby? Is there some other hub to consider?
Thanks
