Ming, mud and lunch.
On the penultimate day of our family holiday to China, I was finally allowed out for a bike ride. It was led by an expat Aussie, Tim, who runs a cycle tours business in Beijing, and the four was made up by my BIL Rob who lives in Beijing, and his neighbour Reece.
Reece is also an addicted MTBer and had dragged a collection of bikes with him from Canberra. Thus he could lend Rob and I a hardtail each. We spent a pleasant afternoon before the ride doing maintenance and set-up.
Scott Genius Issues
I've got a three week old Scott Genius - awsome bike but-
Went out Red Hill yesterday and riding along heard a not so good noise (like snap) stopped to investigate - thinking the worst after reading about some of the issues with Spark frames snapping.
What had happened is the rear shock bolt had come away - at first it looked like it had sheared but on closer inspection this was not the case. This could be really dangerous thinking you have six inches of plush suspension to find as you land you have none!
mundy morning menai
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
a cruisy ride on a combination of of loops linked together to form a27km ride mostly single track but also including some bridges and drops for some xtra fun . would mostly be considered XC with abit of techo.
29er ss
Hi can anyone out there help. I think (know) I need a 29er ss can anyone help with the n+1 without the W-1. Also some info on what ppl's opinion of whether this is a bike that I could ride. Or do I just want something pretty to look at? (This is a question I can answer for myself), and because carbon is out of the question what is the difference between steel and alloy?
With Ingar and Andersons in between
Time taken for the just the oaks legs of oaks, ingar, andersons, oaks ride.
Clip ins
Hi all,
Have just bought my first ever pair of clip ins and I have never worn them before at all. Thing is I just rode Manly Dam to test them out and see how they work I dunno if this was a smart or silly thing to do as I had 2 crashes due to being tentative with clip ins in technical sections. Question is should I stay clipped in during the tech sections or unclip to have the freedom to move etc then once complete clip in again ? I am unsure as I said iv never worn them before and I did enjoy the added power by wearing them.
Thanks
Ourimbah and Awaba !
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Heading up for a social ride to Ourimbah with a mate and Benji.
If we have anything left in the tank, we may continue to Awaba for some more single track action.
Join us - the more the merrier!
