Heckler - So tough it can be fixed with rocks!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I was riding the Dam yesterday evening with two mates and just before climbing up the first lot of steps up towards the Parkway, my front wheel washed out and I bike slammed to the ground onto the rear derailleur, bending my hanger.

I didn’t want to have to walk my bike all the way back home to Queenscliff, so I tried to straighten it by hand. There was no way this was going to work so we pulled the derailleur off the hanger and then the hanger off the bike.

I rode the perimeter/ long trail last night and the surface is firm and fast....the trail is improving everyday, but not my lap times....Still the odd puddle, but nothing to worry about. Get out there and enjoy!

I intend on stopping at the Dam on the way home. My intention is to do 2 laps before last light so no lights will be required. This isn't a training ride and we can stop and play on sections if anyone wants to Smiling

New trail - Kiama to Gerringong

Has anyone done this new(ish) trail, hugging the Clifftops between Kiama and Gerringong?

http://www.kiama.nsw.gov.au/media/pdf/Werri-Lago...

It's only 12 km return, but I understand it's singletrack, and it passes thru some spectacular scenery.

MTB's are apparently allowed, see: http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/lifestyle/trave...

I'm going to be in the area next week and thinking about taking the bike.

getting the exercise.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

where to go to get the constant grind of some fun exercise without the constant interruption of slight rises ?

Manly Dam would be a real hoot apart from
the lip up just past the school
the grind up the road
the step up to the rock
the step up the semi-impossible rock with the frowned on b-trail to the right
heart break hill
back to the parking lot, another lap >? bah lets watch tv

me, i'd like lots of firetrail like western commission track, a bit up a bit down, sort of Andersons/Oaks WITHOUT Bedford Ck and the Glenbrook down/up

Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

I want to ride Ourimbah more this year as its such a great track so what better way than to do a few of the CCOMTB club races the course is definetely worth the trip and a bit of racing is always fun.

XC Race day Fees are $15.00 plus an additional $15 for an MTBA day license if you don't have one. Registration is from 8am, racing starts at 9.30 sharp.

I am not a member of the club if you want more info about them have a look here CCOMTB
