Wet weather training?
With the Fling just around the corner and rain predicted for this weekend means my regular training rides oaks/andos, hill fest etc will most likely be washed out.
So I was wondering: what does everyone else do to train when when the trails are too wet to ride?
Xmas present idea for the kids
i was down at the local book store the other day looking for some books for my nieces and nephew
and came across the following book, TooCool Rules - Sonic Mountain Bike. So for those that have young kids it might be a good stocking filler for Christmas.
Merida matts TFS XC 100
Hello everyone, i want to buy a new bike but am no sure what to buy. The Matts TFS XC 100-D has been suggested but am not sure if its spec'ed appropriately. I'am looking for a trail bike (mainly firetrails, technical and some xc) and i want to pay around the $1000.00 mark i'am probably around the low intermediate mark just for reference. The main thing iam looking for is a good hardtail trail bike that wont fall apart after 6 months of intermediate trail riding.
Thank you very much everyone.
Freedom Riders The Movie
Can anyone here relate?
Freedom Riders, a core group of riders who evolved to creating a precedent setting relationship with the Forest Service and in doing so created the first freeride specific trails on public lands in the lower 48.
Freedom Riders a look at the evolution of the sport, the progression of trail users, and an inside story of a group of riders that would never see their passion die.

XT discs with Avid Elixirs?
I recently purchased a set of Elixirs with 160mm rotors which I love but my new bike has Shimano XT M775 with 180mm rotors. I was thinking of taking the new calipers off and throwing my Elixirs on with the bigger rotors and just wondering if I should be looking at new discs as well? I presumed all discs were pretty much the same but I'm not sure if thats the case.
The other question that comes to mind after all of this is: Am I crazy to take off the XT calipers in the first place? are reading a few reviews on them they sound pretty dam good too!
Frame protection (wrapping my new baby in cotton wool)
OK so the new bike is on it's way and all I can do now is wait and shop for accessories
I know it's going to get scratched eventually but for the time being I would like to try keep it looking new...
Just curious what everyone thinks are necessary items?
I have a rear mud guard at the moment which comes in useful for those wet rides, and was thinking about investing in either a front mud guard or down tube guard to keep the crap off my rear shock and derailleur.
