Whistler mountain bike park
I've been riding here now every day for five days, four of them on the well known dh trails and one on an excellent xc trail. I'm now stuffed and am having a rest.
My first two days were spent with Paul J and Chica. I've now seen a very different side to Chica. The side that gets high up on a berm and who gets a couple of metres air off a kicker to easily clear a double.
As for me, my rate of skill improvement is high. I'm riding quicker and with more confidence than before and taking on trail features I'd ordinarily avoid.

The dust and the heat
The sun was not even up yet that the temperature was already around 20, we had breakfast with the amazing CBD crew and drove to the start which was 11km away. I felt not too bad, my legs were fine, I slept well, I had a beautiful dinner cooked by Damo the food magician the day prior so all was going good for me. I knew that this race will be a hard one, I never ridden the course and some really strong girls would be racing. I had a crazy goal of finishing the course under 6hr which I thought was hard but a manageable goal.
"The Angry Dr will rip your legs off"
That was the one line from the rider briefing that kept going over and over and over in my head the whole way round... and it was true.
Registration
Was spun out and amazed I was allocated the same race number as my only other 100 (Dirtworks). I thought this was a good sign of things to come.
0-50km
Another bonkers epic
Just when you think these things can't get any more crazy...

Distance: About 200 miles. Total vertical? Just shy of 40,000 feet. Find a spandex-clad Europhile if you need to know how many K that is.
OK, I'll translate from backwards-thinking yank speak: 320km and 12,000m vertical. You have 6 days to complete that. The last day is 75km and 3000m vertical climbing.
Manly Dam Works Feedback
Do you ride regularly at Manly Dam? How have the recent works affected your enjoyment of riding there? Do you have suggestions for improvements or other ideas?
It has been brought to my attention that anyone wishing to give feedback to Warringah Council on their recent works at Manly Dam can do so by writing to their general manager, Rik Hart, at the following email address: council@warringah.nsw.gov.au
As this is a general email address I assume a subject of something like, "FAO Rik Hart re: Manly Dam Works" is required.
I would encourage anyone to report back to the council with their views on what has been happening at the Dam. It's very important we let the council know how their plans and works are received. If we don't let the powers that be know our views there will be no-one to blame but ourselves if things do not go quiet as riders would like in the future.
Please remember to be courteous and constructive and if you see any problems or issues perhaps suggest how they might be remedied.
In the interests of keeping a log of various feedback feel free to CC manlydam@nobmob.com with anything you send in.
