Penrose Entry East

This is where the Highland Fling Course often enters Penrose State Forest, at the junction with Old Argyle Road. It's a rather odd place to start a ride - the junction between Old Argyle and Ferndale (couple Km North) is a much better plan.

Old Argyle Road

Driving down Old Argyle Road from Ferndale Road isn't the best plan. In the wet conditions of late it was pretty borderline driving for a 'soft roader' like the Forester. The rocks and stuff here aren't nearly the worst of it, but this was one of the few spots where stopping was a good idea and it was actually wide enough to get such a shot.

Old Argyle Road

This is the entry to the State Forest on Old Argyle Road. In the wet conditions of late it was pretty borderline driving for a 'soft roader' like the Forester so you probably don't want to drive down here.

Plus, Old Argyle Road North of here would be much better on a bike - park up corner of Ferndale Rd & Old Argyle Rd instead and ride down.
