NZO 24hr or 12hr or 100km April 5 and 6
entries are now open for the NZO 24hr weekend, you can choose between 24hr, 12hr and 100km race.
I did the 24hr in 07 and was alot of fun, short track of about 10km long, fairly flat, only a few smallish hills to negotiate, bit of single track, fire trail the usual stuff.
I dont really want to camp overnight this year so i am thinking of just doing the 100km option (10 laps i guess it will be)
Discounts are available of 10% at the moment if you enter before Jan 5.

new (old) gloves...
I'm trying to hunt down a set of older model 661 comp gloves...I think from the 2004 or 2005 range. I really like these gloves, and the newer ones around just don't do it for me
Has anyone seen these around?
Mountain biking for fitness in 2008
Some great and very true words from Mountain biking for fitness in 2008 || Mountain Bike Blog || SINGLETRACKS.COM. Click that link for the rest of it, but here's a teaser:
Let's start with first things first: mountain biking is fun. Honestly, the word "fun" doesn't really do justice to what it's like to bomb down a narrow trail through the woods, adrenaline pumping and endorphins popping. Mountain biking is exciting and it's the kind of thing that millions of folks dream about while they're at work. Ever hear of a co-worker gushing about the great time she had at the gym on Saturday afternoon? I didn’t think so.
'nuff said - get out there!
8 hours of DH :-)
Just got this from MWMTB and thought of many of you guys
Not sure if I could ride this but I certainly would like to
Sounds like a great idea Flynny!
Caro
Ever wanted to get a bunch of mates together and take on the world in
a team based down hill event???
>>From the demented minds of CTMBC and Bright Oragne Events we give you
the 8hrs of DH.
Taking place on the Lidsdale triple track (the short courses used for
the Lithgow state round)
The basic concept is teams of 3. Each rider gets 2 runs on each track
Dam Branches
So you know how they've been putting piles of branches next to various parts of Manly Dam to stop people riding where they shouldn't? Said branches probably start out quiet soft and squashy, being freshly fallen, so that's a good plan, yeah?
Well, maybe not. Because give these barriers a few months to bake in the sun, dry out, become brittle. Then, have to step off the trail in an emergency. The only option for me this evening was to put a foot into a pile of these now sharp and jagged sticks.

Thursday night Social jaunt
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
The Tavern
Ok so its been a long time between drinks and I'm itching to get out.
If its not raining I am going for a casual (read about 12.5 k/hr) roll along Perimeter and possibly Long Trails, starting at the Tavern.
If you want, come and join me but if it is raining I won't be there so make sure you tick the star so I can let you know.
Given the social nature of this, a beer at the lookout and maybe one at the Tavern afterwards won't go astray.
Hope to see some familiar faces.
Stuart
