Terrey Hills Shops
Bit of a mix, trail choice depends on the riders on the day...
I'll be on the trail earlier and join up with the group as I need to leave early.
3/11 - ***NOTE - Start Time Changed to 8:30***
Bicentennial National Trail?
Anyone know anything about this? They have a site here, but it's pretty lacking:
http://home.vicnet.net.au/~bnt/
Part of this says:
Section 10 Jenolan Caves to Kosciusko
There is a very short track on Map 2 that is easily avoided by using the nearby road. Apart from that this entire section has been enjoyed by many cyclists and is considered ideal for mountain bike touring.
Hmmmm... from Jenolan to Kosiusko? Sounds like a nice little ride
Creaky cranks
My hardtail bike, a Giant XTC2, has some disturbing creaking from the cranks..
It's not the seatpost by the way...
Raceface evolve ISIS crankset and BB. Bike is a few years old now but was a regular weekend rider for 18 months or so.
Few other forums note this is common situation with this set up. The fixes didnt seem very convincing to me...
Plumbers tape on threads, various spacers used, high torque to secure cranks..
Wondered if anyone has experienced this and what they did to fix it. I am preferring a fix at the moment rather than replacement.
Did you do Scott and/or Mont? Will you return or has all the chat made you want to 24hr race?
My First Race
A few months back there were two teams from Nobmob going to the Mont. Greg was looking to make a third team and roped me in. I was a bit tentative as I have never done any form of MTB race and I was pretty new to the sport to be honest. I first got my bike around September 2006 from memory. Soon after I then broke my arm falling of my new bike so that put me out for the rest of 2006. So around came 2007 and I got back on the bike and was having great fun. However I never trained too much with perhaps a ride or two a week. This got worse in winter as I did not have lights for night riding.
Our Rob the journalist.
Just found this, our Rob is making a name for himself in promoting the sport and doing an excellent job with the camera.
Forget the milk, bring a pumpkin. Halloween beckons

The Tavern, on the bottle shop side
Ok lady luck got in the way tonight so I'm keen for a ride tomorrow night. Haven't riden for 3 weeks so this will not be a "roid boy" pace but a social cruise from the Tavern to the Jap school, perimeter and then long trails before the LEISURELY PACED return trip along the same path.
If you were at the The Mont a mid week ride should be a must to spin the legs over and aid recovery.
2007 Mont - Eat it up!
Let's start by saying first off that the Mont experience was a blast, and I'm definitely up for another 24 hour race next year.
Why it's necessary to start that way is that my report isn't a glowing rave about the weekend, but that's only because a number of rather silly episodes meant the cherry topped icing was missing from my Mont cake. Still, a tasty cake it was, so let's quickly summarise then zap through the events of the weekend (from a rather Rob'd slant - see Mont 24 Hour Wrap for more angles).
Summary
So here's how NoBMoB-ish teams managed:
MONT-y Python, 34 laps, 32nd/68 in Open Six Male
NoBMoB Monties, 31 laps, 47th/68 in Open Six Male
Team UFO, 17 laps, 66th/68 in Open Six Male
NoBMoB, 36 laps, 11th/47 in Open Six Mixed
NobMob Soft Shocks, 27 laps, 42nd/47 in Open Six Mixed
