I agree.

If they smoothed the track and removed all the rocks and obstacles, beginners wouldn't need to dismount or ride around the obstacles. This should mean there wouldn't be multiple lines and no widening of the trail footprint.

A smooth track (possible made of cement or compacted dolorite) would stand up to erosion better and replacing those big humps with drains (those big humps scare me) should see more beginners using the track.

Mt York convict trails/Celebrate the pass 20th october

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Ok Mt Vic Pass turns 175years old this October and the little village of Mt Victoria is planning a bit of a celebration for it.

What's that got to do with us, I hear you ask.

Well we (CTMBC) have been invited to come a do a social ride on the Convict trails of Mt York.

These trails have recently been handed over to Blue Mt council to manage and this is a bit of a foot in the door for official MTB access.

Well I wanted to do the Oaks before Andrew's night ride there. Also I can't do Carlgroover's Mid Mountain tour on Aug 12 as I have the City 2 Surf.

I will be catching the 9:23 train from Glenbrook up to Hazelbrook. If this is too late then I can move the start time forward.

Lost Wheel - Manly Dam - Mon 30/7/07

I left my front wheel at Manly Dam on the morning of Monday 30th July 07. Hoping some kind person will return it to me so i can get back out on the trail.

I left it in the Manly Vale Public School carpark at the top of Gibbs St.

It is a Mavic 717Disc wheel & DT Swiss hub.

Please contact Steve on 0406 778 448.

You'll receive a six pack (of your choice) for the effort and a wonderful warm fuzzy feeling (not provided by me).

Thanks,

Steve

PS Thanks to all the efforts by TERRA Care and the trail maintenance guys on Sunday!

New Helmet Option?

I'm thinking of buying one of these helmets. (I have to protect the face of the trophy husband my wife married!)

I think it could save a few teeth, obviously not for the serious downhill.

They cost around 85 pounds from the mother country, can't yet find them localy.

I wecome any thoughts?

Ride Database Entry:
Oxford Falls (Morgan Road)

Morgan Road, Belrose. At the second 90 degree right hand bend in the road. There's an area just before you can park and a firetrail heading off to the left.

I know the boys who had a day last week on the big bikes would like to go back to oxford falls downhill. I thought it would be good to organise a ride for the people who fancied a cross country blast around the, well? Cross country course! Then meet up with the guys on the other ride(and by guys I mean men and women) for some photo ops and a bit of a laugh down the downhill course. I'll even lend my bike to anyone who wants a blast!

Mountainbike orienteering - 26 August

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Has anyone here done any mountainbike orienteering? I did one race - it was fun, but I really sucked at it! (reason being that I just rode the tracks between checkpoints which looked interesting, rather than were fast. I ignored the fireroad and bitumen and cruised on the slow singletrack Smiling

The NSW MTBO club are running another race near Raymond Terrace up North - on the 28th August.
