Boyd River Fire Trail

Boyd River Fire Trail is another track of to the West of Kanagra Walls Road. The sign says, it's for management only but a ranger told us it was fine to ride. Probably preferably to Kowmung River as not as much traffic, but both are easy descent South and join the Morong Creek trail later.

Kowmung River Fire Trail

There are many trails of the 'main' road down to Kanagra Walls. This one, Kowmung River, is one of the larger. Off to the left (West) as you drive in.

Morong Creek Crossing

Morong Creek crossing on the fire trail of the same name. Now, this is a bit trickier than the last. Luckily there's a path (or at least there was when we were there) through the bushes about 5m to the left. There's also rocks that can be climbed over about 200m downstream (that's SW).

The water was only about 40cm deep anyhow (we saw a couple of 4WD vehicals go through there).

Hanrahans Creek Crossing

Hanrahans isn't much of a creek, eh?

Morong Creek Fire Trail

Lots of nice fire trail like this. Gently undulating, no big hills.

terrey hills

Hello!
I was reading your site the other day and saw you did a ride from Terrey Hills shops down to Duffys Forest and back, I didn't know if you knew you don't have to go back the same way but can go down Killawarra Road where there is a trail called The Letterbox...it takes you through to Cooyong Road, you can then go up there to get back to the shops or on another link which takes you out near Kinma School...
If anyone needs better directions I can give them but I suspect you already know the way - it just makes a nice loop.

Gaffer Tyre

People might laugh at you for putting gaffer tape on a split or damaged tyre, but check this out - it actually lasts a lot longer than you'd think.

This tape was applied top of St Helena trail in The Oaks and here you see the result when we got back in to Glenbrook (about 13Km later). There was also a temporary fix inside the tyre which I noticed was giving way when I took it off to replace it, so it's quiet possible the gaffer tape saved the day.

P.S. What do you mean, "Where did you get the tape?", you mean you don't carry some in your backpack always Eye-wink

What do the colours mean

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey
Just found you guys on a google search, when researching Manly Dam. I'm pretty much a beginner rider, and today I attempted the Quarry track on the Cascades labyrinth. I went at it from down in the valley up (not the best way to take it), and found it incredibly difficult (I also got lost at the recycling depot-did you know you can see the city if you take th wrong turn-right intead of left-at the top of the trail), but I managed, and I still have all four limbs in working order. So i was wondering if there is a link to a key of what the colours mean on the google earth overlays, or would someone care to explain what they refer to.
