The Oaks update for 19 Mar
Rain day before but clear the day of this report...
Upper fire trail to picnic shelter mostly 'dry' - or a bit damp. Steeper sections a little more rocky and eroded than usual due to previous rains.
First part of single trail from picnic shelter is good, but watch out for occasional slippery mud/puddles around corners.
Steeper portion of single trail at end is eroded and still very wet (suggest exiting on right fork to sealed road at the start of this steeper section).
Water was up at the Glenbrook causeway on Sunday 18/03/12 - was closed to cars, but could just ride across on highest part of causeway.

UST 26" tyres
I am curious what others are riding on around Manly Dam. I have a set of UST 'The Captain' specialized and they have a tight set of center knobs and they tend to loose traction really easily of the sandy rocky step ups. I am over the whole Schwable thing, what about the maxxis? What are you using?
[Mod. moved to Northern Beaches as relates to riding in a specific area]
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail update for 19 Mar
The Duckholes Trail is a mess. Best to give it a miss
Centre Track is in better shape

Appin XC track maintenance
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
North end of Burke St, Appin. There's a small parking area here at the trail head.
Note that the map shows Market Street connecting Appin Rd to this location but that is actually a firetrail and will not work for drivers who should take King St (next block South) and enter from there.
Bring your own tools if possible. I'll try to ge some from WMBC as well. We've got a few options due to all the good work done in the previous months. I'd like to walk my proposed reroute of the Fall Line point with some people to get their opinions of it. That should only take 30 minutes at the most. We may be able to start cutting it in and with a good sized team possibly get it finished on the day. Another option is to do a bit of rock armouring and drainage work on the 'new' singletrack after Kings Falls Bridge from the firetrail.
Withdrawn: Convict 50 ticket wanted

Hi, Keen to do the convict 50. If anyone needs to drop out please let me know and I will transfer your entry fee. Cheers Glen
torque wrench
I'm using a few carbon fibre bits on my bike now, and I'm consciously aware of over tightening certain bolts!
What should I be looking out for when it comes to torque wrench's for MTB? Can anyone recommend a specific brand, size and all the bolt sizes so I can smarten up in this area?
