Yellomundee Regional Park update for 17 Mar
Hi all - Yellomundee has had another 22mm of rain on Friday night (16 Mar) - and there is running water all over the tracks as at PM Sat 17th). Please consider YRP as closed until further notice. The ground is so wet out there that ANY rain causes runoff.
WSMTB have been able to do some minor track work but not any major repairs - and therefore the areas that were roped off and closed off a few weeks ago remain that way.
thanks
Ray Rice

Language warning for this video, it is definitely Not Suitable For Work, so mods feel free to take down if you think content is appropriate.
However, it is *very* funny. Well, I thought... captures the hipster fixie scene really well

Appin update for 17 Mar
The ground had firmed up a bit during the week but the most recent rain has softened things up again. Rutts have formed at some points because people won't stay off the tracks. I was a bit disappointed with this mornings track maintenance turn out as I'd thought that some of the two dozen or so people riding the track in the recent wet conditions that I'd spoken to about the regular maintenance days while doing some work might have turned up.
There is water flowing down parts of the track and lots of standing water. Give it at least another week of 30deg days before heading out and causing any more damage. Other sections like The Lost Track and Abbots Loop, both off the regular race track, are worse than the regular loop in the wet.

Pietermaritzburg World Cup XC Course - Video
What a sweet course!
However, it does go to show a few things...
1/. Mnt Annan is basically the perfect place to train for a World Cup (other than a few steeper / techo bits)
2/. A 29er is the only bike to ride and rear suspension is not required
3/. Tread on tyres is irrelevant as its all super super groomed.
I'm sure there will be some response that its not hard enough, and maybe boring - but it has claimed skin so far from the best of Australia in test riding.
How good does it look!!!!??

Terrey Hills shops
Early Sunday morning ride with a couple of mates.
Duckholes > West Head Road > Towlers Bay (all the way to the water) > West Head Road > Centre Track
Awesome ride - approx 30 kms with some decent climbs on the return leg. Track drains well even after rain.
See you there - the more the merrier.
Cheers, Hans

Ourimbah State Forest update for 16 Mar
Rode here today. I'd call it amber at best - especially if the forecast rain comes through. Heaps of deep, heavily rutted muddy puddles and a lot of soil erosion. A large chunk of the track including Ewok forest has also been taped off due to heavy mud.
