In the area for a few days while travelling around Aust.

Hey guys,

I am in the area (staying Lithgow) for a few days while travelling around Oz with my family. Looking to get out and see some mtb trails in the area - preferably with some locals. I've looked online and can see there is plenty around, but would love to hook up with some locals for some riding. Only have my hardtail bike, so full on DH is probably not on the agenda, but I'm keen to go check out all sorts of stuff that is on offer. I didn't bring lights with me on the trip (packing as light as possible - still got way too much stuff) so night rides are out too.

Kiwarrak in the wet?

I may have a chance to get up to kiwarrak in the next few days but it looks like there may be a bit of rain around

What's the trail surface like, does it handle a little moisture or best to avoid if the rain eventuates?

Time, bandwidth and history

I've compiled a bunch of my old (and newer) vids in to one spot as a bit of an ode to old times.

Back when mountain bikes rode rough, ungroomed, unshaped trails. Night riding back before HID and LED technology turned night to day. Back when helmet cams needed to be plugged into a big arse recorder housed in your back pack. Back when home editting software was crap. Back whne 26" ruled 29" was for roadies and 650b was for weirdos. Back when things were fun right through to now when they are even funner.

All hail the mountain bike

This race almost broke me as a race organiser. I think I can finally look back on it and see the good things about it

Lithgow to Wolgan

Been doing the ride as a round trip lately which makes it a big day

This time we did it one way and hired Madgestic buses to pick us up at the bottom which gave us a bit more time to enjoy the views.

Also arranged for some wood fired pizzas at the bottom which made a great end to the trip

Unlock the gate

"We would like urgent action to the intolerable state of affairs for people wishing to cycle between the towns of the Upper Blue Mountains.
Either unlock the gate to the track parallel to the railway line between Katoomba and Mt Victoria or else spend the $9 million now for a state of the art track.
"

Take a second to sign the petition. Seems ridiculous that maintenance crews can drive through but you can ride it

Gun Club track

Can who ever has been removing vegetation and straightlining the corners at the top of the Gun Club track please stop.

The Straight lines are lame and unnecessary. There are some delicate ground orchids that grow alongside the trail so it gets a bit of scrutiny and the unnecessary work will reflect bad on the club even though I doubt it was club members who did it.

Any way pass the word. Removing vegetation on any of the trails on Hassans walls is not on.

Maintain the trails we have rather than putting in new ones.
