Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 07 Sep

Green/Open

Was in there for a night ride last night, drying at perfectly except for the bog hole where the firetrail crosses the creek down the bottom of BJs / It Happens. Super fun elsewhere even Bailey's is ok. Might have got a tiny shower overnight but I doubt it was enough to even wet the trails. Rain forecast for this week though so keep an eye on the BOM site before you head in.

Green Point

Does anyone have any information about the trails at Green Point? My wife has ridden there a few times with a local women ride group and she took me out there to show me the trails on Sunday. I did not expect much to be honest but I was pleasantly surprised and there were some fantastic short technical climbs that had me blowing pretty hard. Firstly, I was wondering if these trails are legal to ride and secondly, if they are, does anyone have a map? With a bit of knowledge I reckon that one could make a pretty handy ride loop.

Are there any decent fire trail networks around Newy?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

ok, there are times when I need a break from the roady but keen to clock up similar sort of riding on the mtb.

So I am hoping someone could suggest somewhere reasonably local (ie 0.5hr drive) that has a good network of fire trails where I could cobble together 50-100k's without going round and round in circles.

Google Earth suggests a few areas of potential - seems to be a big forest area up near Karuah, south of Caves Beach, Sugarloaf down to Lake Mac.

Any suggestions?

all tracks nice & dry except that boghole at the creek on bottom of BJ's/It Happens-keep an eye out for all our legged reptiles who are enjoying the first warm sun-would be a shame to run them over!

Singleton MTB track update for 02 Sep

Amber/Some Issues

Track is awesome. Hero dirt is an understatement. A little rain last night has really made it nice. Still amber due to the Aboriginal artifacts site near the concrete water pipes. Area has been taped off but the cattle have no respect and have trampled the area and pulled down the tape, there are a couple of posts that the tape was hung up on that will ID the area. Remember there are huge fines for entering an area of aboriginal significance so keep out of the area. Thanks

Wallaroo NP Advocacy Thread

Don't know how many people here ride the Wallaroo NP north of raymond terrace, those from Raymond Terrace and Medowie probably do.

Anyway, NPWS are interested in discussing the potential for the park as a mtb destination. The park has 2500Ha on offer and currently has an extensive network of management, 4wd and moto trails.

I've had preliminary contact with NPWS and we are meeting tomorrow to talk further about it. A group of riders from Medowie and Raymond Terrace has also been kept in the loop so far with a view to forming a group similar to the GTA, for the Wallaroo NP.

Jesmond Advocacy Thread

I thought Jesmond needed its own thread to discuss where its headed.

I've been talking with Council on and off for a few years now about legitimising the trails in the reserve. The Council has always been aware of them and unofficially let them be (other than some jumps below rankin park).

More recently though, Council has become interested in the potential for Jesmond to host mtb events. This obviously has put some focus on formalising and recognising the trails in the park officially.
