Warners Bay update for 29 Sep

Perfect conditions. Trails are dry and fast. I entered via the GNW trail off Anjon St and went through the by-pass tunnel. There has been some burn off over the Warner Bay side. This really only effects the tight, looping single track on the Western side of the power easement. Didn't come across any snakes on the trails only some golf balls.

Perfect rocky technical hard or loose trails there today!-just keep an eye out for snakes though..."Maverick" & I had a very close encounter with the longest, fattest & thankfully snoozing Red Bellied Black we have seen!

Awaba Ride Saturday 28th Sep

Anyone heading to Awaba tomorrow in lieu of Glenrock being closed?
I'm banned from riding by myself so if anyone else will be out there early tomorrow that would be great.
Looking to do some sub 40 min laps of the red xc track.
Cheers

Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 27 Sep

Red/Closed

Here is a status for Glenrock today taken from the GTA Facebook page.

I am a little ashamed to admit that I went up to glenrock this morning. Cool and still... I thought "what could possibly go wrong?" We called 000 and bailed to fernleigh track and out.... A couple of spots are on fire again, from remnant embers. As the breeze has picked up they have lit up more underbrush.

Stay away today!

Best to stay out until it is all under control.

Wiggle Australia price match plus 10% off promise

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

While we encourage everyone to support local bike shops... it's understandable people shop around on-line for deals from time to time.

Right now Wiggle.com.au have a great price promise running: for delivery to Australia, they will not only match, but promise to beat any price inclusive of delivery by 10%.

Note that CRC have up to 50% off Shimano this weekend, and with Wiggle pledging to beat any advertised price... you know what that means! Laughing out loud

BTW, this covers everything Wiggle sell, I only mention Shimano as an example. Details on the promise are here:

Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 26 Sep

Just went to the beach and there is a bushfire in Glenrock. You can see the flames from the top of the sewerage works road and the fire brigade is using a helicopter to water bomb the fire. Looks like it is around hang ten snakes and ladders area but probably more towards the water, however that is just what I could see from the road. All in all I would say give glenrock a miss at the moment.

New rider suggestions

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hey all,

My girlfriend and I made our way out to Glenrock recently and rode the beginners trail and seismic. We are new to the area and relatively new to mtb riding and wanted some suggestions for what tracks we should try out on Glenrock that are relatively beginner friendly but offer a challenge!

We both have relatively decent bikes (xc hardtails with rockshox/fox forks and the accompanying hardware that comes on bikes with such forks), so bikes can handle most tracks if they don't have drop offs (Not that we are confident to tackle any drop offs yet).

phone found in Wallaroo

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi all,

Was riding in Wallaroo National Park yesterday and found a phone on a trail.

If it is yours, PM me with some details about the phone to prove it is yours.

It seems to be in working condition but I can't unlock the screen to try and learn who the phone belongs to. I reckon was lost on Sat 21st Sept.

Is a fair chance it belongs to a moto rider. If you know any that ride in Wallaroo let them know about this post.

Quite dry except for the usual deep ruts.
First snake I have seen in this area. Glad I was not going any faster and it was able to make a flying leap off the trail.
No swooping magpies yet...
