So after putting it up several months ago, leading to a LOT of food for thought for me, I had narrowed it all down to the Spec Epic and Trek Top Fuel. Eventually (and contrary to what I know many would choose), I finally settled on the Top Fuel (mainly due to pricing) in February though had a spanner thrown in my works when I found out that Trek had completely sold out for the year. Luckily after much negotiation between Turramurra Cyclery & Trek Project One, they sorted out a custom built model.

Well this morning I added a $4k Trek Superfly Al100 Pro to my collection. After info being thrown at me left right and centre, I was able to sort down to Anthem, Superfly, Scalpel and Epic, a bit more choosing put me down to Epic and Superfly, and after riding a fried‘s trek for the second time I could NOT resist it.

Suggestions for new rims?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I'm looking to ugrade the rims on my 2008 Trek Fuel EX-7. The bike came stock with Bontrager Select rims which have held up fairly well but they are relatively heavy and I have had to replace a number of spokes on the rear over the years.
I want to get something Tubeless compatible, sturdy enough to suit my occasional dodgy line selection in around WA trails but light enough for racing club rounds and/or enduros.Budget would be limited to under $1K for the wheelset.
Thoughts & suggestions?

Cheers,
Chris.

11:45am - Finish riding XC track at Ourimbah. Notice a little line near the join between seat and chain stays of my Trek Fuel. Head out to Bikeworx, just to make sure.

12:13pm - Take bike into shop and expect to be told that I'm a big girl. Instead, by chance, the Trek rep was there, has a look, takes pictures of my bike, uploads to his Laptop and sends an e-mail.

12:15pm - Trek rep says, "You'll have a new rear triangle tomorrow." Bikeworx tells me they'll fit it immediately when it comes in.
