Tubeless conversion

Ghetto conversion with

Alex DP20 rim on rear with Kenda Small block 8 folding 2.35. - the bead set as soon as I put it on at the servo.

Kmart $4 20" tube - was cut down the middle for a rim strip.

Nitto electrical tape 18mm - spoke tape. wrapped nice and tight.

Brushing Latex $40 mixed with Windex and water.

Running 35psi on the back with tube, so wondering how low I could go for a 95kg rider + gear.

UST compatible rims - how to?

Some advise needed.

Invested in a pair of UST compatible wheels and are pondering on the following:
1) Should I use that liquid sealant in them any way?
2) If I do get a flat is is just a matter of removing the fixed valve and chucking in a tube?
3) There is a warning label stating not to use tools to get the tyres on and off. Hmm, if I cant use tyre levers to get the tyre off - then how can I?
4) I normally ride on cross marks but they are on the heavy side. What's light with low rolling restistance and offer OK cornering grip?

Leaky UST tyres

I have an issue with my UST Crossmark tyre.

Few weeks ago I found that they had a few tiny holes in it. I could see the bubbles of air through the water after I washed my bike. So I ordered some Stan's solution as I thought that should seal these little holes up.

However they tyre still seems to be leaking?! I just wet the tyre again and I can still hear and see the little bubbles of air through the water. Sad

What gives? I followed all the instructions on the Stan's bottle.....shake upside down, one scoop etc.

Any ideas why my tyre is still losing air?

Well got a bit lucky today when I realised after the ride that I had a torn sidewall.
Torn sidewall
I sure am having no luck with tyre's and tubes on my new bike. First I get a glass puncture right at the finish of the Dirtworks. Must have been one of those warm beer bottles that we all got handed at the finish line!

Then last week I get a pinch flat after going off a drop in Manly. The tubes that come standard with the Trance X0 sure are damn thin! Some sort of Maxxis lightweight tube.

New Mont Tires

Wow! Just now I have managed to replace the Crossmark UST tires on the Rush. Shockingly easily too! In fact, I'd go so far as to say changing the GF's (tubed) nobbies for slicks on the weekend was harder!

When I last rotated them just couldn't get a re-seal and had to resort to visiting local servo to use their compressor powered line.

This evening the new tires sealed like a dream with only a slight amount of over-exertion on the floor standing pump - top stuff. Perhaps the newness (I rotated front to/from rear last time) - which I'd left un-folded for a day or two beforehand helped?
