Kinross State Forest update for 08 Oct

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Still very wet tracks and some trees blocking tracks.
It's probably best to avoid riding the wettest parts of the single track until it dries, but there's plenty of fire roads to explore.

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Lake Canobolas Mountain Bike Park update for 08 Oct

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Red/Closed

Temporary closure of Lake Canobolas MTB tracks due to wet weather and tracks:
With the warmer weather finally approaching, it is now time to
conduct our first major spring clean and scheduled maintenance at the lake track. The boggy sections are slowly drying out, it's now especially critical to keep off until fully drained. We will trim overhanging Biddy bush and grass.
So we are asking everyone in the club and visitors to be patient whilst we get our ducks in a row, and please help spread the message to non club members.
Signage will be at the trail head as well to inform.
The pump track and car park will stay open and we encourage everyone to keep using it.
As an alternative: fire roads at Kinross and the Boundary rd from Pinnacle carpark are in good shape to keep the glutes in tone.
Thanks everyone for your patience,
Cheers from the OMC team

CWORBC (Orange) cleaning up Kinross Forest

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I thought the global riders MTB community might be interested in this:

"Great news! The club has secured a significant grant from EPA to combat the illegal dumping at Kinross Forest."

More details here:

Dead Pig Dam

To see this feature in context with others in the same area, view Kinross State Forest map.
Type:
Trail Head

This dam on the "Goat Track" and at the top of "Bogan's Run" started to be known by this apt name and it's good as a geographical reference point.
It is sometimes used as a base for smaller XC races at Kinross. It's accessible by 2wd tracks just off "Kinross Lane".
The "Trail Head" category doesn't really fit that well but it will do, although it is the trail head for "Bogan's Run"

bathurst evocities round 3

Just a heads up for those not in the know make sure you bring plenty of spares tubes patches latex stans etc as the Bathurst track is cat head Central... one trip off the track and it its all over
I had 15 catheads in my tyre after a brief off on one of the corners. They all caused air to come out upon removal and I run tubeless with caffelattex

You have been warned

Great track other wise hard to get used to the slippery decomposed granite surface ..less tyre pressure in front helps
Cheers

converting to 1x11

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

OK so I know this has been discussed before many times but here goes anyway
I want to convert my 2011 specialized epic comp carbon 29er to a 1x11
My question is should I stick to sram components or go to shimano
I basically want to keep my xo truvativ carbon cranks if possible and get a narrow wide up front probably 32-34T
Was thinking going SRAM xx1 rear derailleur and cassette or shimano xtr not sure about front shifter yet

Any advice on gear would be much appreciated as this is all new to me

Orange this Saturday

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi All,

I might be heading west to Orange for cherry picking with the family, and it seems that there are some nice trails to be ridden there as well Smiling why not kill 2 birds with one trip.

Looking at the weather observations there looks like Orange copped a bit of rain on the weekend too.
Are the the trails in a ride-able condition ?

Looks like Kinross State Forest is place to ride.
Any inputs are welcome

Cheers,
Mario

Webscorer reviews?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I'm thinking our club (CWORBC) should get webscorer (http://www.webscorer.com/) and buy an android tablet to use it on.

Has anyone used it? On which device(s)?

We'd be mainly using it for multi lap time limited events (ie. most laps wins).

I think Lithgow use it? Do you have any problems with it?
