Until Wednesday the weather will have cleared up, the trails will be dry and we will have a great ride on Perimeter and Long Trail followed by a cold beer on a balmy night!
Maybe if we all together really, really believe in it, it will happen!

Hi,
it's been a long time since I have been on a Wed night social!
In order to revive this great tradition, I thought we might try an easy combination of Duck Holes, Centre, Perimeter and Long Trail, wash the smoke and ashes down with a beer at the turning point on Long Trail and be back at the Tavern before the kitchen closes 
:-)!
Well, I guess we monitor how the West Head closures develops and decide the ride on the day.

Whilst riding the Mona Vale Road sniggle on the weekend I come across a sign on the side of the track highlighting the proposed addition of a rifle range to the existing gun club on Mona Vale Road, Terrey Hills.
It was also featured in the Manly Daily today.

Went for a burn on perimeter and long last night and came across this thing spread across the track near the school

Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
This is an out-and-back at social pace. There are great views from a few spots so bring your camera if you like. The trail consists of fire trail, with some sand. It is non-techical.
At 22km return it is probably not suitable for young children, but my teenager enjoyed it last weekend. Weather is forecast to be warmish - mid 20's - so bring adequate water and your sunblock.

Can anyone comment on the legality of riding the Cowan Trail that runs off Long Trail at Terrey Hills please?
It appears to be a fire trail but has a sign saying walkers only...
There is also this comment in the ride section for Terrey Hills:
"Cowan Track
The Cowan Track forks off West about 850m from the Long/Perimeter junction. Although it is signposted, "Walkers Only" we have word from a that park rangers have confirmed riders are allowed here."

Mountain Bike Use of Illegal Tracks & Closed Trails

I have been asked to post the below by local rangers as a reminder to all that building illegal single track in National Parks is just not worth it.
Not only will you be fined and your work destroyed by the rangers, you will also show the sport of mountain bike riding in a very bad light and hinder efforts for legal trail access.
If you want to discuss this, please do so in the trail advocacy forum.
On Saturday 8th March 4 mountain bike riders were apprehended riding the illegally constructed downhill track off Smiths Creek Track (that runs of the Perimeter trail in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park). Smiths Creek Track is clearly signposted at the locked entrance gate as a "WALKERS ONLY" track.

Terrey Hills Planning a ride for newbies and lurkers and those with new bikes that are yet to hit the trails in anger (c'mon you should have removed the training wheels by now!). Chance to meet up with other riders and members of NOBMOB. Guys, Girls, partners, young, old are all welcome.
This ride will be hosted by Craig (craigs) and Gary (GAZZA) and be at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for breath, water and discussion. I'd expect a few regulars to come along as well, you know who you are
